Death watch for Hanna
Last night after the show, around 11pm Hanna had a major seizure. She has had several since then and we have been taking shifts to help her get through them. Upon checking her pupils they do not respond to light. We believe the first seizure has made her completely blind.
This may be part of her degenerative spinal disease, but more likely a brain tumor or kidney failure. The seizures are so violent it exhausts her. She walks into walls, falls over hard and risks injuring herself. Very hard to watch. I can see she is frightened. Shadow is being very attentive. He knows what’s up. She has been his mother figure his entire life. My son is here and is taking it very hard. She has been the most well behaved and sweetest dog imaginable. She doesn’t deserve this. We will try to wait it out until tomorrow when we can get her to the vet to send her off to the Rainbow Bridge. Just FYI. Prayers are welcomed. We have been through this many times. It always sucks. :sadangel::sadangel::sadangel: |

Damn. That's horrible, I know how much your family loves your doggos, and we've all been through versions of this. Prayers for you all.

Very sorry to read this kind of news :sadangel:
There are some vets that can come to you if you feel she is in too much distress...Lap of Love and other similar resources might have more info. Thoughts and prayers being sent up today :( “There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings or walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given.” -Suzanne Clothier |
Now is the hardest time, when years of love received get turned into intense love given back to a deserving Pup! Prayers sent for both of you...

She has had two more seizures. She is absolutely exhausted and laying with her had in my lap. Shadow is going nuts. We are trying to find an in home resource.

It’s gonna be a long night. I have some meds to reduce seizures if we can’t get it done today. I have a stethoscope and her heart is strong but lungs have some fluid. We will keep her comfortable. She goes from catatonic to all of a sudden getting up and walking/stumbling around.

I’m catching a nap. Wife and I will do shifts all night long to care for her. I’m just waiting until I have to bolt up to run to her when she starts seizing.
