JACKSON, Miss. – The Pearl River is expected to rise to historic levels this weekend, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of homes and shutting down roads around Jackson. The river level by 11 a.m. Friday stood at 35.32 feet, more than 7 feet above flood stage. It's expected to crest at 38 feet this weekend, or 2 feet above what's considered a major flood stage. Round up those cats and get to high ground |
THAT is scary crap.....40' of flooding would put 1/2 the state of Floriduh under water........the prime reason I bought on a hillside with about 30 some odd feet to swamp levels at bottom of hill, houses on cross street there have flooded 2+ feet deep 4 times since I been here 23 years now....

Thanks for your concern. I'm already on much higher ground than Jackson, MS, is; I live in Madison, MS, about 20 miles to the North of Jackson.
It has rained here about every day for the last few months; just like the flood in 1979, the gates at the Reservoir were only opened last Friday. They never learn. |
