Florida motorcyclist killed after popping a wheelie A Florida motorcyclist was killed Wednesday night when he popped a wheelie on a public road and was struck by a car that apparently couldn’t see him because his headlight was pointed in the air. Florida Highway Patrol troopers told the Tampa Bay Times that the rider, Tristan Velez, 36, was heading northbound on Florida Avenue in Tampa when a Chevy Cobalt traveling in the opposite direction pulled out of a left turn lane and into his path. A car using the left turn lane pulled in front of the motorcycle. Motorcycles are required to have their headlights on at all times to make them more conspicuous, even during the day. Velez was thrown off his motorcycle and into the car and died from his injuries at a hospital. The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash. No criminal charges are expected to be filed, according to the Tampa Bay Reporter. https://www.foxnews.com/auto/florida...ping-a-wheelie |
Apparently at night. Darwinism.

he chose poorly :yesnod: |
The car still failed to yield the right of way. There's comparative negligence involved in the accident.

I ride a motorcycle myself, I've had my "M" endorsement for over 40 years. He was an idiot and paid the ultimate price. |

Crazy stuff some of these younger guys do. I grew up riding in dirt and got early lessons on how fast your bike can kick out with even the smallest rock or stick in the way.
These guys that pull wheelies at highway speeds confuse me. It's not just a skill issue, it's that if you hit one bit of road debris the wrong way, you're toast. Never made sense to me. Scott |
Quick shot of chlorine to the 'Ol Gene Pool....:funniest:
