Son's interest in Camaro leads to discovery
My youngest son pretty much wants to know everything about the first '69 Camaro I owned back in 1984. Name of the person I got it from (and sold back to) etc. Anyway, it turns out my old buddy and former neighbor where I grew up in Va passed away in August of 2015. We had lost contact back in the 80's, but I still hated to learn. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, and was a straight up nut. Bunch of good memories. As long as I knew him, he always had Corvettes. Last time I saw him, which I think was 1986, he had a beautiful '79 L82 Car, and an '85, along with the Camaro I sold back to him.
I told my son that I had a good picture of him from back in the 80's standing next to his boat before we left for High Rock lake near Lexington NC. It is just a reminder of how fast time slips by on us, because hell, he was still a young man in the picture, but in his obit picture he looked like an old man. He passed at 67, and I guess things are all relative at this point. I was a friend of his wife's brother Rusty who I have known since childhood.
Here is his obit if you are interested. I think I always hoped I would run across him again at some point. I always loved '69 Camaro's and Corvettes, and he definitely fueled my fire for those cars. RIP buddy, those were some good times!:cert:
