Sorry, we don't drive vehicles like this for gas mileage.

GG I had a 74 C10 350/350 and it got about 7 to 7.5 mpg. Only mod I gave it was headers and dual exhaust. First vehicle when I was 16.

5 or 6mpg is indicating a problem...have you checked vacuum or rebuilt the carb yet?

The cure is better heads, 3.03 gears in diff. (if not already there).

If you want even better:
aluminum intake
carb spacer (for heat dissipation)
better cam
better lifters
2.02 heads
4 speed auto trans
3.03 gears in diff. (if not already there)

Rebuilt the Rochester 2GS a couple of yrs. ago. I hooked a vac. gauge to it, but, mostly tuned it by ear. I should go back through the carb. just to clean and make sure no junk and spend some time with the vac. gauge to dial it in better.

What's wrong with a Dodge??? :island14:

In that era of cars and trucks, they used really shitty smog devices. I bet one of them may be defective? I had a 71 El Camino that had a throttle vacuum regulator with a smog pump. I kept it on the car, but I disabled them to make it look like they were working. Always got about 15-18 mpg.

I STILL thought I would average 10 or so mpg. I ran completely out of gas today. It took 16 gallons and averaging what I drove it last week is how I came up with the 5-6 mpg.

Would no overdrive and that kind of gear ratio = those numbers? Would it take a 3:23 or so rear to get 10mpg? I think the lack of a overdrive is what's killing the mpg?

I have that same front plate. I plan to put it on my Charger if I ever get it on the road again. 96 rock.

96ROCK WKLS FM Atlanta ruled the airwaves in the SE. I don't know what their reach was from Atl. You weren't cool if you didn't run a 96ROCK tag or sticker.

How fast do you take off from a standing start? I know I can really drop the gas mileage in my Suburban with quick starts.

Nothing as long as you enjoy sitting in your stealership's customer lounge drinking their burnt coffee and surfing their slow AF WiFi.

Going on two years with nothing but oil change and tire rotations for my Jeep. Now the other POS GM's. I bet I put more miles on loaner cars than the cars themselves.
I believe our Ford Transit Connect, dog van, is better built than the 17 CTSV was.

I really don't keep my foot in it since it's only a 2BL carb. It is mostly around town with some traffic to deal with.

Well, I have never had any serious issues with any of my Mopars. Even my 77 and 78 Cordobas with the lean burn systems. :yesnod:

While true, if there is something simple that can be fixed in the garage, there is no reason to spend twice as many dollars on fuel than you need to.

My first and only Chrysler product was a '99 Durango. Had a bunch of issues including the tranny which were fixed under warranty. The icing on that shit cake was when I went to trade it in I discovered that the stealership had branded the title with a "not actual mileage" statement. Fortunately for me the stealership that took it in trade didn't notice until a few days after the deal was done. I tried to help the get the title corrected with the CA DMV but in the end I think they wound up eating the lost value.

:nono: The trucks were rebranded as RAM. You won't see the dodge logo on anyof the newer models. :D

I've had it in the dealership once for a recall fix on the drag link and to have the head unit/radio replaced. Other than that, the truck is rock solid. If it didn't have the cummins, I'd have walked away though. Dodge gasser motors suck balls.

Jasper711 12-20-2020 6:39pm

From personal experience a truck like that should get about 10mpg or a little better. Something is wrong, vacuum advance come loose?

Because the lack of handling makes them RAM as opposed to DODGE????

Kinda tough on the folks, no???
