Imagine how quick these dog's attitude would change if ANY threat appeared against the young masters.

Dogs, especially large ones, seem to instinctively know who around them needs protecting.

I had a friend with a St. Bernard who would lay out in the front yard when they had their infant son out there with them in his playpen. If anyone walked down the sidewalk, mailman, etc., the dog would get up and walk across the yard keeping himself between their son & the "threat".

Our 1 year old female Husky has indicated that she will protect me from our 3 year old male Husky.

Plus the big dogs let kids play with them. Our previous Swissie Mochi, weighed in at 170 lbs and the kids at the local park knew him. They would come running up and hug him around the neck. Mochi LOVED that.

Our 115 LB Bernese Mountain Dog loves every neighbor and child he has met except for one, the ass hat across the street who stalked my wife. Every time he seems him, the hair comes up and a deep bark echos the house.

Sort of on subject, but have any of you ever noticed in the movie "Cujo" where he was supposedly eating I think the deputy alive, but it was filmed through a door frame so you could only see the back half of the dog. That dog's tail was wagging like he just busted open a fresh box of Scooby Snacks. No way was he attacking anyone, he was a happy camper. Just an observation.
