Default I did not know that...

...you can give dogs Pepto-Bismol.

The fellow that rents me the Lewisville field for Julie is a retired veterinarian. I was out there yesterday with Bandit while the farrier was giving Julie a trim. And of course he got himself a hoof-trim to chew on, and every once in a while it will upset his stomach. Bruce (the vet) told me to let him lap up about a teaspoon of Pepto if he starts feeling bad. And of course he got to feeling like shit not much later. Let him do his hurling while he was outside, and after that he didn't enough energy to lick his ass. I gave him the Pepto and he perked up a bit. He's not up to 100% yet, but it definitely has seemed to help.

When I used to go to Mexico for vacation I pretty much chugged that stuff twice a day. At least four or five tbsp each time. The days I did this I never got sick. But invariably I'd forget and sure enough that's the day I'd feel a twinge around bedtime and wake up feeling like a bag of hammered assholes.

You can also give them Beano, but it doesn't work.

why do you let your dog eat hoof trimmings? Is it like a bone and good for their teeth?

They just like it. It's the same stuff fingernails are made of. For dogs, it's kind of like chewing on a rawhide. And it's not the trimming itself that gives them a tummy-ache, it's where that hoof has been.

Yeah. A horse don't give a sh*t about stepping in a pile of crap. No biggie!
