View Full Version : How many people use cash any more ?

I've got the same amount of $$ in my wallet I had 2 weeks ago. I use the CC for everything. Then I pay it on line. Basically I watch one set of numbers go up on the CC and a set of numbers in my bank account go down when I pay it.
Lately it seems cash has become inconvenient. At Panera, they can swipe my card, hand me a receipt in half the time if I hand them a $20. Paying with cash has become the new "old fart paying with a check."

I rarely use cash. 99% of the time, or more, I use my debit card.

I haven't had cash for 3 months.
Use a card most of the time.
Still carry about a grand in cash on me at all times.
Cash is still King during some transactions.

Same here. I took out some cash to play poker the other night and still have the majority in my wallet.

Yea, wife was a huge debit card user-but I am leary of using a debit card except in a machine. Too many Aholes that can empty your bank account. I'd rather fight with my CC company VS trying to get my actual bank cash back.

It depends. I like to keep a couple Hun-yed Geetas in my wallet in case I need it, but I prefer to use plastic for 2 reasons:
1. Rewards points. I usually get a couple thousand back a year on stuff.
2. Money soaked with Mexican ball sweat is not something I like to put in my pocket, so in Houston when it warms up, I am really careful where I spend cash.
I'm Old School ... I have to have Cash in my pocket all the time.
I refuse to be left to the mercy of a Machine.
I have my share of cards;
Yeah, strippers don't accept credit :D
True, I've tried swiping my card to see if it works, got thrown out both times.
Having to use cash is pretty annoying; for me it's almost always because I need something from a vending machine.
Other than that, check card for everything.
Use a card most of the time.
Still carry about a grand in cash on me at all times.
Cash is still King during some transactions.

Yeah.....I wish.:slap:
Its because I'm cheap.
Too many deals, mostly car related that require cash. I've grabbed some great deals because I had the cash in hand.

Back before the daze of computers, some 20+ years ago, it was a RARE day I had less than 1500 cash on me.....
made business SO much quicker and easier than carrying a damn checkbook around and then the supply houses taking one or not....
try remodeling houses for a living, and you find out what logistics and billings and accounting is ALL about in about 5 nanoseconds....
a receipt is a receipt.....don't need a check....

I don't carry more than $10 in cash 99% of the time.
The only cash I have is the $14 that has been sitting on my mantle for a month now waiting for that little bitch Girl Scout to bring me my damn cookies!

I gotta agree with this 'tard on that! :iagree:
except today I actually used cash. I had to pick up prescriptions at two different drug stores. I paid cash for one, $14.00, the other I put on the card, $245.00. The reason I did this was to make sure that the retards at Discover didn't freeze my card, like they did last month when I did the same thing. Seems a small charge followed by a big charge at two different drug stores is a trigger that a Crank addict has stolen your card.

I use my debit card 95% of the time, but I still carry 3-400 in cash all the time. You can make better deals with jewelry dealers if you use cash. Plus I like to tip in cash.
If I can pay for it with my CC, I will, no matter the price.
Points are points.

I've gotten screaming deals on stuff b/c I could pay cash for it. I use a CC for pay at the pump gas stations b/c it saves time. Anything under about $200 I just pay cash.

I used to use CC or DC for everything until I started getting the bills in! Stupid bank started charging for DC use over 8 items a month, and credit cards charged up to 20% overdue interest, dah! I found myself having to always look over my shoulder at bank machines and using debit because of the high tech or low tech thieves. So, I've gone back to a little cash in my pocket. Yard sales, and other cash only deals are fun too!....:D:D:D
