Gauging interest in a Midwest/Northeast Barn Raising

We're gauging interest in a having a Midwest/Northeast barn raising at our place either over Memorial Day weekend, the weekend before or the weekend after, whichever works out the best. I know this is the same time as IC’s Barn Raising and we’re not trying to take away from that in ANY way. We thought maybe we could have another one simultaneously for those that are too far away to make IC’s and we can post the pics up and share...just make it a barn raising day over the country. :) Darrin (Superstreet) and I are pretty centrally located for a lot of the Midwest/Northeast members. We have about 6 acres so we have plenty of room for a cookout here, pond for fishing, etc. Lodging will depend on how many people plan to come. If there is enough interest, the nearest hotel is a Super 8, eight miles away. As far as activities, we’ll leave that planning until after we know how much interest there is in this and go from there. Kind of see what everyone wants to do. I’m making this a pole to see which date most can make it.

Why not push it to the end of the summer so you aren't competing with the original? Maybe Labor day weekend? I'm sure some of the peeps going to the Tx one might want to come to the NE one as well.

The official date for this will have to be Memorial Day weekend. We have found out that we have a wedding to attend the weekend before.
The closest hotel to us is 8 miles away in Jerseyville, IL. The rates for 1-2 people are:
1 queen bed $66.99
2 queen bed $72.99

As far as activities go, much will depend on how many people show so we'll talk about what everyone wants to do and go from there. :cheers:
We do plan to kick back at our place for bbq and beverages and we have a stocked pond if anyone has a desire to do some fishing.

All of the above. We have a 4-wheeler and a stable nearby if anyone wants to rent horses and take a scenic trail ride.

This would be a lot more feasible for me logistically, but I can't do memorial weekend. I agree with pushin it back as to not compete with other events.
