SPRING HILL, FL (WFLA) — Three Pasco County Florida residents are accused of taking money from the bank account of an 81-year-old Alzheimer’s patient, causing the victim’s home to go into foreclosure.

Investigators with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office say Bonnie Mae Pierce, age 62, Renee Sigel, age 51, and John Hyatt, age 51, used money from the victim’s bank and credit card accounts to pay their own personal bills. The trio also allegedly bought a lawn tractor, clothing, costumes, alcoholic beverages, gasoline and other personal items with the money and credit cards.

The suspects stopped the female victim’s bank, credit card and mortgage payments, which caused her home to go into foreclosure, according to the PCSO.

Pierce, Sigel and Hyatt were arrested on charges of exploiting the elderly. Each suspect was booked into the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center with bond set at $20,000.

My State has a similar law about protecting vulnerable adults. The law says that even if the wrong-doers have a power-of-attorney to spend the vulnerable adult's money, they can still be convicted because what they're doing is just plain wrong. It's a felony here with up to 10 years in prison plus restitution.

From the looks of that bunch, they have already tried that route.

True.
In that case, I'm sure there are some farm animals out there that need some lovin'.

Seems like there a a lot of low life scum who would rather steal from vulnerable people then get a job. Lock them up and throw away the key.
