Ran a 12.332 @ 114.70...

Not too shabby for a stock 4400lb station wagon, complete with baby seat. Broke out of a 13.0 index class in round 2 with a f'n 12.991 :slap:

Of course the d*ckhead who bought my '14 SS went and won the whole damn thing with it (including 2 kid seats in the back), so now I get to hear about that for the next 20 years.

Sounds like he won due to more equal weight distribution :) lol

Another baby seat might have given me the .009 that I needed to move on. :)

:seasix: Kickass numbers for a "wagon". Our local strip closed down 2 years ago. Reopens this week. :hurray:

I can't lie, I was pretty happy with that number.

Completely stock with the exception of an intake (which doesn't do anything). Didn't let air out of the tires, didn't do anything. Drove it straight from work onto the track and then back home afterwards, complete with crap in the back seat.

It backed it up with a 12.34 on the next pass although it got there a different way. It spun bad at the line but trapped at 116 so it made it up at the big end. The sun was down by then so it was making a bit more power.

I don't know what the DA was, but it wasn't good. 84 degrees and muggy as hell. I think on the right night, with something better than my street tires it could dip into the 11s pretty easily.

Nice numbers, my C5 runs around 12.30 on street tires and 11.90's at 117 on Nitto Drag Radials. I think your guesstimates are right on.

Decades ago an old friend had a '60 Bonneville Station Wagon could not have been a 389 in it, had to have been a 421+ and he did lo 12's all day long...this was long about '68 or so.....thing never spun a wheel on them Castler drag slicks....front end come up and it looks like a Tigger taking off...tan and white colors....I was guessing 5000 lbs on the light side....

He used to overhaul auto trans for a living, so he obviously redid the trans in the car, an old 4 speed auto no torque converters in them things did have one or two fluid couplings though Hydromatic drive..... been a while.....:seasix::hurray:

There always seems to be a big body, big block wagon or 2 at the local strips on a Friday bracket race night. Lots of feelings have been hurt by them.

We'd love to see you explain that to your wife......

Well hun, what had happened was the starting line hooker needed a ride home... and had her kid with her. I had a station wagon so I was happy to oblige.

Pretty good time for trapping 114.
What 60' were you able to cut?

I would have had to at least drop the air to 20 psi or so unless you were on run flats.

Best 60' was a 1.81.

I really didn't even go to race. I was tired of not knowing how fast it was and figured I'd go run it down the track a time or 2.

I was running a 13.0 index and it was so squeaking a little more out of it really wasn't much of a concern. I can say with complete honesty that it will go 12.3 exactly as I drive it to work... right down to the air pressures.

Nice! Slightly better DA, drop the pressure etc etc and cut a 1.6 you'd be high 11s. Very cool for a "family wagon"

Several years back a guy would come down to Edgewater Dragway in Cinn. with a white Chevy wagon. All steel body and interior. Had tubs for big tires, roll cage and a 632 cid motor with powerglide. The car ran 8.50's at over 165 mph. No nitrous all motor.:cert:

I have heard stories about old powerslides being used for that, just can't imagine it standing up to those engines.....makes me think it's a old IRON case no way in hell the more modern aluminum slides can take that torque.....

Stick with the 13.0 dial in, practice at the test-n-tunes and cut the lights... you'll be unstoppable and never hurt the car getting there.

It will probably be another 10 years before I go back. :)

As for unstoppable, the douche with my old SS has been drag racing since he was born and now has a car that he can run 13.0 with all day long.

With index or bracket racing thats all that matters. Ive seen guys win lots of $$$$ with slow crappy looking cars. Cut a good light and run the dial in, "all day long".
You should be thrilled that you were able to run so close to a 13.00. Slowing a car down to run the index is not that easy without sometime spent tuning. :cert:

Trying to take .7-.8 out of a car is hard to do (especially for someone with exactly 1 race and about 10 total passes in the last 17 years). I started pedaling the thing at the 330'. Felt like an eternity... and still broke out.
