Process seems to be really over-complicated for the results.

i made a coffee table a few months ago, classic mortise and tenon construction. took about 10 days to make.

you have to have patience if you want good results.

very few trees grow in the shape of furniture.

my sister has asked me to make a cutting board and bowl set, similar designs for each, as a gift for one of her long time friends.

when we were sorting this out, she asked how big a bowl i could make. well, based on the size of my little lathe, about 11" diameter max. hmmm....how much does a larger lathe cost she inquired. a really nice one, that i have dog eared in my catalog, runs about 6-8k.....oh.....11" will be fine then.

hey, if you (anyone out there reading this) want something that my present tools cannot make, i'll gladly accept a gift of a new tool to effectuate the production of your desired project.

oh, by the way, the cost of walnut has really gone thru the roof. :faint:
