A little background..
Our elderly neighbor adopted this dog from the West Valley Animal Shelter in Chatsworth,CA about a year ago. She had a stroke a few years ago, and figured that the dog would be good therapy for her recovery, but her Doctor recently told her to slow down. She was going to give Sam back to the shelter...
We really didn't want to get another dog, but we knew him from the neighborhood walking our own elderly dog and thought he was cool. We had a falling out with one neighbor when they gave us a cat that they were neglecting, we spent a bunch of money on it, and then they raised hell and wanted it back. Complete azzholes. We ended up giving the cat back to save grace, but I hate those people now. So we were reluctant to get involved with another 'neighbor rescue' situation.
This one worked out though. He was legally transferred to us and licensed, so now he is our dog! He is SMART! He had some obedience training, but we are continuing to work with him and will use the same trainer that was being used initially. He has some Separation Anxiety issues (he loves me! :)) and he went after our cats (they are in a different part of the house until we can slowly integrate everybody) but he is acclimating well...He is a GREAT DOG full of energy! Getting use to having a 'puppy' again. He is under two years old.
Sorry for the long winded post. Now here are the pics of Sam. He is a Bouvier des Flandres mix.

The other dog in the pic is our Izzy, who is 16 years old. An old girl. I adopted her from the pound in November of 2002. She is a wonderful animal. This is good therapy for both Heather and I, as we lost our Beagle Dixie last July. Plus Sam is good for me as he likes to walk, and Lord knows I need the exercise. Plus it gives our other dog a new companion.
