Passing away just days after he retired from 60 minutes. The great :canada: story teller had a way of bringing out the truth from people during his long career. :sadangel:

I liked a lot of his stories on 60 Minutes. May he rest in peace and be blessed by God.:sadangel:

He was the best. No b.s., no drama, no controversy, just the best.

Morley Safer conducted the last interview with Andy Rooney when Andy retired. It was a poignant experience for both of them. Rooney asked:
"What kind of idiot would want my name on a piece of paper? [Autograph]" he asked, and then explained that anyone who would write him a letter isn't his kind of person.
To which Safer replied, "That's exactly your kind of person."
Rooney devoted much of his final regularly scheduled commentary to that relationship with his audience, and he tried hard to confirm what Safer said - that he's the same prickly character off camera that he is when it's rolling.
"I spent my first 50 years trying to become well known as a writer and the next 30 trying to avoid being famous," Rooney said. "I walk down the street or go to a football game and people shout, 'Hey, Andy!' I hate that.
I think only Safer could get these honest respones. Like Rooney, Safer died only days after retiring from 60 minutes.

We all walk streets often and with folks we have no idea their background and what they've been involved. Sometimes, if you look close, you may catch a glimpse of a distant and satisfying memory.
