I hate driving my truck and I needed something more civil and with more utility than my Miata and Victory.
Enter, the Panzerwagen.
I picked up this 5 series wagon and it is surprisingly fun to drive considering its ocean liner-like size.

Now maybe I will put the vette back together.

Comfy ride with room for extra stuff. Good deal :seasix:
My FIL is still rocking an early 90s 5 series and its a very pleasant car to drive.

In the background is a 2016 Nissan Altima with around 17,000 miles. This car has ten times that and feels 100% more solid. I have a bunch of tools in the back, a sheet of starboard and assorted other crap and it still handles really well despite its pedestrian Michelin tires. I really wanted 5 speed 540 V8 wagon with an M package but they are tough to find.

I have a 2008 Altima that is my DD. Just about 110K miles. It has been the most reliable , no trouble car we have ever owned.

I refuse to get rid of my 2003 525i.
I love it and will probably drive it until it dies. It has 179k miles on it and is still running strong.

I'm sure it will go another 110, it's just not my thing. My brother just got rid of an 05 Altima with mid 200's on it.
I'd totally rock that. Nice find!:seasix:

I actually ran it at an autocross yesterday. It was slow as hell but was a crowd favorite seeing a 4,000 Panzerwagen drifting through the course.

On the autobahn, you'll get passed by plenty of station wagons. Maybe it's salesman hauling ass to their next call. Whatever the reason, you need to get used to getting smoked by a station wagon.

Never even seen one of those around here. I doubt if they were sold in Canada. Did they come in a 4 wheel version? :bigears:

Yes, they come with 4 wheels. 6, if you count the spare and the steering wheel. :leaving:

A 5-series BMW at 100mph feels like a C3 at 40mph.
A C3 at 100mph feels like you are just moments from death.

The AWD versions have the model name followed by an X. The 3 series wagon is more popular but not as roomy, which is why I wanted a 5 series. I had all my boat gear along with my outboard, three batteries and fuel tanks in the back and still had plenty of room.

We have a C43 station wagon that is a blast to drive (a C63 would be an even bigger blast). No badges and a big surprise to whoever thinks he needs to ride your ass. If only it weren't for the rust issues and wildlife's attraction to committing suicide by C43.
It is a great car to have around for hauling shit and fun as heck. And it looks better as a station wagon vs the sedan.

:seasix: I love the autobahn.
And I also love sleeper vehicles. My buddy has a twin turbo Grand Cherokee SUV putting out 750 ponies. He's gotten a few surprised looks. :Jeff '79::Jeff '79:

It is a very satisfying feeling when you're driving the speed limit and 1 lane becomes 2, no speed limit, they have been on your ass all that time and are already preparing to pass, then are sitting in the left lane, with no vehicle left to pass because it is long gone.:D
The Brabus Smart is a nice little sleeper too. Not the ultimate sports car and not built for high speeds on windy days, but also good for surprises.:seasix:

Did 152 mph in a VW Passat Wagon on teh A4 a few years back. When we shipped the car here to the US, you had to watch your speed...constantly.

I know, right!
Seeing the station wagons in Germany gave the respect I have. It was crazy funny the first coupla times then I got used to it and would even look for them coming up behind.
Also, there's a lot of cars the US won't import. Why? Who fukkin' knows really. A coupla reasons are safety and emissions. It's a car which means it's mechanical which means it can be changed. Duhhhh.
The Brabus Smart Car 77Babe mentioned is crazy but some folks would buy it.
