I'm looking for a loose diamond for an engagement ring. I have looked at bluenile.com so am comfortable with my way around there. Are there any other places to look? Also, what say you about ebay? There appears to be good vendors with 100% reviews/return policies, etc.

Well, first off, congrats on the reason, I presume.....:hurray:

Second off, I remember going through a whole lot of shopping angst for that stuff decades ago...got to be a reasonable judge of quality and price, for a amateur ......

best of luck.....but don't sell yourself short on looking because with a eyepiece and some good looking you can see most of the occlusions yourself....

Congrats!

I always used Bluenile as my pricing guide, however I found a local personal jeweler to work with me through the process. <she had done 2 other forum members rings> She was able to find the diamond I wanted, and beat the pricing from bluenile.

:yesnod: Got engaged in early December. I bought Karen a Princess cut -- it's on a single solitaire right now but we'll be changing the setting this summer.

Just another thought. Since you're looking for a round diamond, those are fairly common in estates & such. If you look for a local jeweler, find one who deals with estate sales & appraisals, you may just come across a killer deal on a diamond.

That's what I'm hoping for. I don't mind getting a used diamond, a diamond is a diamond right? If it's perfect, why not reuse it right? I'll ask local jewlers.
