A friend of mine just called wanting to know if I got the MIAA Men's basketball championship game on DirecTV because our local university, MSSU, is in the finals. I said surely I do, but it will be on cable no doubt. She said it wasn't on cable or over-the-air here. What? So I checked and sure enough it's not being broadcast in any way, shape, or form here in the Joplin area. She could drive 60 miles to a sports bar that does get this game, but how lame is this? MSSU even has a channel on cable, but they aren't playing this game because the MIAA Broadcasting Network apparently has the rights and it is Kansas City-based and they obviously don't GAF about letting at least the two team's local area to rebroadcast it.
She has been to every home game this year and in the years past, and we've gone with her to a few. Sure, the MIAA is small-potatoes but MSSU has had a very good b-ball program for about 10 years now and you'd think the least they could do for their fans is broadcast a TOURNAMENT FINAL GAME. :beat:
