View Full Version : Closed on a house on Friday
What the heck, lose my job in Feb, why not apply for a mortgage while unemployed? LOL
It seemed to be no problem, and after 4 weeks into the new job we closed on the house. We had downsized almost 2 years ago and were renting but just hated it.
Here's some pics of the new place. Needs a few updates but it is mostly perfect.

Looks like a great home! Congrats and enjoy.
I like the built in bookcases, as well as the fact that the interior wood is stained, vs. painted white. That's nice, I wish I had that.
I wish it was a gas stove, though. Is the house all electric? If it has gas, I'd see what it would take to get a gas stove and oven.

We are renovating the master bath vanities and counter, a leak previously destroyed the left cabinet so we are going to rip and reconfig the setup.
Kitchen remodel is next year and gas cooktop and oven part of it (cooktop at a minimum). That oven/microwave combo is 24" wide, not much you can do except replace the cabinets. House was built in 1992 so everything is the old standard sizes. Kitchen is going to be a bit of work including a tile ripout and hardwood flooring to replace it.

Son is 21, daughter is 23.
We are having regular conversations about them preparing themselves to move out. No timetable but they know it's an expectation. If it starts to look like they are not moving in the right direction I am going to institute my failsafe plan.....

OLD home remodeler here....the amount of terminal damage to ALL sorts of wood floors in a water area is just stupid.....every damn one of them, pieced/repaired and patches look like crap.....water wins again wood, every time.....:issues::sadangel:
Nice looking place Doug :cert:
