Last year I got $268 dollars back. This year I have to pay in $1164
Yes, paid one more year on the mortgage and our income increased by about $5K.
Monday I'll alter my with holding by an additional $25 :issues:
You would think that at some point that you would get a personal thank you note from the president for supporting our government.
I try to minimize my support.

Not exactly :slap: This put a crimp in the budget. Yes I had the funds in savings but that is if a vehicle breaks or a major appliance fails.
My with holding is "supposed" to keep me within a couple hundred dollars either way. I don't want to give the gov't a big free loan but don't want to dig into savings either.

Just busting your balls. I can't wait to see my tax bill in October when the extension finally gets the return filed. :willy:

This happened to me the first year my wife and I filed as a married couple only the bill was a HELL of a lot more than that. The very next day I changed my deductions back to Single/Zero.

I work for what I have then can too or go hungry. :slap: An empty stomach would be quite the incentive to work.
I have no problem but a helping hand but refused to supplement a lifestyle.

Did you have tax withheld from your unemployment benefits?
I tried to file today and found out someone has already filed for me...sigh...I still get to write them a $2500 check; at least it's not the other way around and I'm not waiting on them.
Our government sucks at almost everything they do.

I paid 1220, I pay every year but never more than 1K to date
We got money back but claim single zero all year. Our interest is so low on the house we can't write it off anymore.
I agree I could have bought a very nice car for the taxes we paid in supporting the libertards.
This will be the first year I've gotten money back in at least the last two decades. I have to figure out why so I can stop it from happening again.

You bet! That just means your giving them an interest-free loan!

Funny you should say that, this year I got back over $500. I do not like to give the government a non interest bearing loan and my accountant usually gets it so close that I have to possibly pay about $50 or get about that much back. I told her to sharpen her pencil a bit more and go back to the +50 -50 amount.

we have reached the point where the long-form is not advantageous.
Seems the more responsible and self-sufficient a person gets... they are penalized for it.

No, you just have to be very rich and put your money in places such as Panama. Or maybe even one of the big banks so their hot shots can pay their way out of the clink.... If you really want to be ill, use this calculator to see approximately what you'll pay depending upon who is elected. It's disgusting.

"Donald Trump: His plan would cut federal revenues by an estimated $9.5 trillion over the next decade. Cuts would be across the board, but most cuts would be for wealthier households..."
Gotta love the media...
The top 15% income earners (as reported by IRS) paid 78% of all income taxes for 2013.
The lower earning 63.4% paid 6.2%
No matter what the media pens, they paint wealthy individuals with the same brush as Corporations who magically pay no taxes or have some hidden insane tax shelter where they shovel their "tax free" gains.
Yes my accountant is creative with helping me maximize my write offs (all completely legal) but some of the low or non-contributing tax folks would have a fukkin' stroke and take to the streets with pitch forks and torches if they had to write the quarterly checks I do. (As a percentage of their income)
Then I get to stop in to a local restaurant and hear a waitress brag about how she, her husband (also working) and 2 kids only pays $35/mo for health care. I don't even bother to tell her I have to pay $800/mo for my same size family for bottom tier care that has an $8,000 deductible.

I'm on Mary's insurance since the cost was only about $35 a week more than what I would pay at my work. Due to the "affordable healthcare act", Mary's employer ( local hospital ) attaches a $100 per pay period "added fee" since I'm on her insurance. Plus it went up almost 50% again this year.

not all income is taxed the same way. you can complain about this, or you can arrange your affairs to take advantage of this. :DAB:

Of course, and my accountant is exceptional but at the end of the day, you can only write off so much.
My "complaint" isn't as much having to pay a larger percentage but rather those that cry foul about the "rich" paying their fair share as many pay little to no taxes and receive subsidies that I'm not privy to primarily because I make more than they do.

True. I have found that income they don't know about is taxed at a far lower rate.:D

Until they find out.
Anyway, the government doesn't have a tax problem, they have a spending problem.

No. My wife changed her deduction. I paid more tax in the first 4 months of the year than she paid all year.
Filing alone, I would get money back, but together we owe.

Owed $3800 this year. Mostly because of end of year bonus's and accounting not taking proper taxes out. Sucks considering ALL the daily taxes paid.
:type:
all packed up and ready to send off.
oddly, the refund from the feds and the refund from the state were exactly the same amount. eh, roll them over to this year's estimated.

On the way to my accountants now.
Hell, I just want a reach around.....
I was actually happy about my taxes this year. Having a wife that is a stay at home Mom and a child makes a huge difference.
I guess I need to adjust my numbers.
