View Full Version : Yup - that's right. A Beer thread.
I cut out early to come home and enjoy some of this weather.
On the way home, I picked up a nice selection (of bottles and a couple growlers) for this evening. As I switch drinks, I will be posting what I am currently drinking.
Right now: Yazoo Sly Rye Porter

I like those winey dinner thingys. :yesnod:
There are some remarkable wines out there. I have a couple buddies that are wine distributors and they have turned me onto some wines that are amazing.
However - we still drink some cheap wines here at the house. I buy cases of the Charles Shaw "Two Buck Chuck" just because it is great table wine.
I love a nice beer, but a good red is just as nice IMO.

Yea, I love the grapes as well. We are going to a local wine shop that is breaking out several of their $90-150 a bottle selections for us to try.

Dixie, I really wish I could get some of teh beer you brought to CI. That stuff was great.
Last night I had some 3 Philosopher's. That stuff is always awesome. There's some new Bell's seasonal beer at the local brew shop that I need to pick up.

Very hoppy and with the right amount of bitterness.
Next CI - I plan on getting a group tour booked at the brewery and heading that up for an event.

That really makes me want to drive to the next CI. I was thinking about taking a year off. Depends on what's going on, I've got some interesting stuff in the works.

Good stuff. Did you score any hoptoberfest? I'm hoping to find some next week when I'm in WI.
I'm heading up to the Raiders game this weekend, so it's safe to say I'll be consuming mass quantities of beer.

I did, but I am fall flavoured out now. I am moving on to the winter beers while they are still new and fresh. This Blue Paddle is nice.

That is good stuff. Their Tripel is good as well.
I picked up some Abita Amber the other week. It's in my "good but forgettable" category. I'll drink it, but I won't go out of my way for it. They had purple haze there, but I didn't pick any up. Is it worth it?
I hear you on the winter beers. Bell's Winter White Ale is out along with their Christmas Ale. I need to pick up both next time I'm at the store.

Amber is ok..it is constant and you know it will always be alright. However, I like to venture out a lot...maybe too much on some beers but I usually find some good ones.
Right now - if you can find Abita Pecan Harvest, buy all of it you can because it is about gone. That one beer right there is in my top 3 Fall beers. Don't confuse it with the Fall Fest they have though, 2 totally different beers and the Fall Fest is just lame as a beer.
PurpHz - not bad, but more of a summertime brew. Raspberry flavor..Not bad, but yet again, constant. I think this has a lot to do with their springs they get their water though.
I am back on the hop project again. I have 2 growlers that need to get drank first.

I'm out of beer, bourbon and scotch... I need to go to town and stock up but my bride is concerned at the rate the last several bottles have disappeared.
I pointed to the dog, but she's not buying it.
