...that the kids of the USA have no idea as to what's happening in the rest of the world....:(

I am willing to bet it is not just kids here in the U.S. that have no clue, but all over the world.
Just remember this - the education system today is less about learning and more about passing.

Very true, but to me you'd have to have your head stuck in the dirt not to hear about this stuff on the news, or read about it on line. They all have their noses stuck in their I phones chatting nonsense to their buddies, or playing games.

There are some, on this very forum, who are wholeheartedly in agreement.

The people of North Korea have no idea what's going on in the rest of the world, and they're doing just fine.

Incorrect. Most of the Industrialized world spends a good deal of time teaching about international issues and most countries have English as a second langue taught from 2-3rd grade. Our elections are followed closely in Europe and most of Asia since the outcome directly effects their business.
OUR educational system has been in decline since the late 1970's and will remain so until we get the Federal government out of the education business.

Their "news" doesn't cover things like that. Their news covers the important things, like what Kanye said today, or what Betty Bigtits tweeted...

No shit. Watch Aljazeera (the real one, not the pretend American one), or The BBC (again, the real one)... both offer better US national news than anyone here...
