Trump advocates for torture: 'We have to beat the savages' (http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-advocates-for-torture-we-have-to-beat-the-savages/ar-BBqpCuf?li=BBnb7Kz)
Many members of the "Greatest Generation" would have spent their life in prison i they had been held to the ROE and "Interrogation" rules in place today.
Instead they won a horrible war against an enemy that had not rules.
Even the enemy back then had rules and more of a will to survive than the suicide bombing nut jobs of today. :yesnod:
The Japanese kamikaze are an apples-to-oranges comparison to the Alah Ackbar freaks of today.
Case in point: Compare Japan to the vast majority of ME countries. Which is vastly more civilized in the same time frame and not blowing people up?
FYI, I can't stand Trump and think he's a fraud playing on the fear and hate of the populace.
Just my .02.
The Japanese Executed MILLIONS in their occupied territory and those Americans who were captured during the island battles were almost always tortured and executed.
Our troops adapted and became much tougher and meaner than they were and prevailed.
our enemy is not following the civilized 'rules of war', why should we tie our hands in defending ourselves and defeating them?

You cannot reason with the unreasonable. I'm ok with torture and I am fairly certain I have the stomach for it should my country need my services.

There is the whole "We shouldn't act like that because it's not right. " argument. There are certain limits even during WWII that we as a country wouldn't stoop to-just because it wasn't right. It's so heinous to the American people that they had to move torture to another country-Cuba.
Those kind of statements will turn off fence sitters like me.

We did not use certain "Torture" methods because most of them just don't work. Look at how FDR treated the German spies sent to the USA and the SCOTUS ruling on their "Rights" two of whom were American citizens.
There is a difference between "Stooping" and the Bullshit of PC. We have gone to far to the PC side of the equation.
American citizens have certain rights and protections that must be upheld. Transferring those Rights to non American citizens who are acting without Color of government is societal suicide.
these attackers are acting outside the umbrella of a recognized state. they are not entitled to any protections of the rules of war. they can be shot on sight.

There was much that occurred during WWII that was maturely not sensationalized, and barely spoken. Things like executing a batch of innocent German kids because they discovered behind the lines soldiers. My Father in law was a mortar man on a second wave "clean up" detail. Clean up is a euphemism for taking out the German soldiers that would not surrender, after the main force was defeated by our leading wave. There were many gruesome details but "clean up" were the only publicized words.
What you refer to as torture in Cuba, might be better treatment than a hotel in the occupant's country of origin. And the reason for Cuba was to not subject the captives to American civil law: suddenly they would be granted a whole array of "rights" merely for privilege of being on American ground.
It is this political pandering, to so called 'fence sitters' and others, and seeing the harm done by political pandering, that causes much of Trump's popularity.

Pandering ? Hardly. As former military that has been in harms way- I knew the possibility existed-you signed the dotted line.
If you want to be seen as the "good guys" You HAVE to act better than the other guys. If not, we are no different than the other guys.
There are a couple of us in this thread that have served. A lot of others post scripture at times which I find hilarious and hypocritical.

For sure. Their bullies to put it in plain English and what you do to bullies is be tougher/meaner than they are. These liberal assholes in this country that think waterboarding is torture are miles off the wall. The enemies uses real torture, let our people up the anti and see how they like it.
You can do some very interesting things with just a knife, pair of pliers, electric drill, hot charcoal and 110 current, (among other items of course)
