I may or may not have a carry permit which expires early April. Previous renewals usually take about 3 days to get in and process. I called today and was told my earliest interview date is mid July!
Damn noobs!

What state? I got mine renewed in December here in Missouri, took about 30 minutes because, well, some old guy they had running the computer system was as capable of running it as a goose. Eventually a woman just stepped in and printed our new cards out in short order.

renewall here is done via a form.
What's this "interview" thing??? Do they ask to "zee yur paperz"
My 18 year old daughter just filled out the application for her permit. She WILL have it within 2 weeks. One of the nice things about living in NH, a will issue state

It really doesn't matter. When you have to ask permission to exercise a RIGHT......well, yeah, OK then.

Took almost the maximum time allowed by state law to get ours this year (120 days)

MO here - Christian County sheriff is very carry friendly, but I don't recall the interview process from my 3 or 4 previous renewals. I would call a few days before expiration and go get a new card.
There was a blurb on the news earlier this week saying there was a three month wait for a new permit, but I had no idea I'd get caught in the log jam.
I sure hope I don't have to pull with an expired permit.

Back in '96, I think, PBS (or maybe CSPAN?) was showing the Libertarian Presidential Nominations Convention. Probably not as widely viewed as the Democratic and Republican ones. They were debating platform issues. Someone wanted it in the platform that all states should issue carry permits to any adult citizen, except for some obvious exceptions, such as ex-felons, mentally ill, etc., upon request.
The resolution was soundly defeated. Why? Because a pretty strong contingent of delegates believed that no permit should be required for anyone to carry a gun.
Interesting how we have been led to think that an easy to get carry permit is a wonderful thing, while it is a restriction on both our freedom and privacy. What the Libertarians were proposing, no permits required, probably won't happen in the near future, but on this issue I wholeheartedly agree with them.
It's like I've said here before, if the idea of license plates on cars were never thought of, and the government was now proposing them, people would lose their damn minds. It so easy to accept a loss of freedom or privacy if it already happened a long time before we were born.:yesnod:

That makes no sense at all. My wife and I didn't have any interview. We just wrote two checks, filled out a very simple form, and got the new CCW ID and gave them our old ones to destroy (saw them stick them in their card shredder.) Very simple and quick.

Just curious, how does that work with her being 18 instead of 21?
Not sure what you mean? :confused5:

How long ago was that? Last time I had to renew, my experience was about the same. The interview process was answering a few questions, paying my $50 fee and done. I know that the county sheriff's office only allocates so much time for processing, but seems like everyone in the county now wants a permit. No priority is given for renewal. I am going to re-check on this issue...

She is able to get a concealed carry license at 18? I thought the legal age was 21 in all states?

Actually, I can't find anything on any of the NH law sites that give an age requirement at all for a license to carry concealed! However, you have to be 21 to buy a handgun, but only 18 to buy a long gun. Not sure about any other state.

Last December. Believe me, there's no interview process as a requirement for CCW renewal in Missouri. None. You fill out a form, pay your money, and get a new ID (with no picture) printed out. No other questions asked at all. If your county is doing it, it's doing it for it's own reasons.
When I first got my CCW about three years ago, there was no interview requirement either. Just fingerprinting and back then you had to make an additional trip to the DMV for the photo ID (no longer a thing...)
