Do you need a permit for that?

I don't need no stinkin' badge! Sirus, although I live in the City Limits, I shoot rifles, shotguns and pisols; burn leaves, limbs, and trash; and occasionally host the Neighborhood Orgy (Motto: "Just say N.O.!").

We use to have Bon Fires in the back yard all the time, and the Fire Dept came, put them out.. and was told we needed a permit, unless it was fully contained and for recreational use or for cooking.
The next time they came they put it out again! and even I showed them the rocks around it, and even had some hot dogs out there for cooking..
But the guy would not believe we were cooking out on burning tires.. :island14:

When I showed the alibi hot dogs on the table nearby to the nice Fireman..
He just kinda looked at me :skep: ...and said yeah right.. you're cooking hot dogs on burning tires.. :Jeff '79:
Another time they came and they were kinda pissy and demanded to know who started the fire..
It sounded like possible charges of some kind so I told them I didn't know.. it looked like arson to me..

We had breakfast for dinner last night, so this AM for lunch I pulled out some bacon leftovers, and heated with a hot dawg in the MW/ and had a bacon dawg for lunch.....:seasix:

Pffft.. we don't waste firewood here, we use it to cook with.. :yesnod:
I remember Dixie the first time he came over here saw a nice big stack of firewood and asked if it was for a Bon Fire..
No way I told him, that pile is for cooking! :nono:

should be able to put a mesh top on to stop embers, that design does not allow for that.

My friend's neighbors had a house warming party at their just built house. Somebody threw a cigarette butt in the mulch and the brand new house burnt down.
Why have a shredded wood product surrounding a fire pit?

I'm just laughing... but believe me I know about fire dangers and worry about it also..
We have a grass roof on part of our house.. Imagine how fast that would go up.. :yesnod:
But we do also cook inside with fire in an out building that is attached to the house without any worry's... Chimney is well planned..

What part of paving stones is cheap?.....pretty damn expensive around here. Besides, my drunken friends would be knocking that wall over on the first good party night. I'd have to cement it together. ::(

That pit would set the roof overhang on fire very quickly and blacken the side of the house with soot which would be the least problem.

I didn't build mine, someone built it from iron. It is a 48" circle, 240 pounds and I don't make a fire unless I am using at least 25 logs. It will hold a lot more than that.

You're right. We're gonna need a bigger pit.
You might get shot for striking a match in my neighborhood. This would not likely go well...

Yeah, open fires aren't real popular here since 20% of the county burned last year.
