View Full Version : It's just hard...
I had to make a guy go to the Doctor today.
He's been w/ us a long time. I think a lot of him; he's the one I bought the truck for. I've been hoping it would get better, but it hasn't.
I'm so pissed that I'd like to go get in a fight. Probably just have another drink.
I think it's bad.

Why don't you wait until you hear the results? Until then, have one on me.

I'm not deliberately trying to be obtuse and I thank you for the replies.
Since it's a medical deal, I don't want to be too open.
Suffice to say that his friends and co-workers have noticed some significant changes in his memory and speech over the past year.
And I am just really bummed...

Sorry to hear it man. We have one at work I constantly have to fix his feck ups and when I'm the lead on the project it really pisses me off. That being said, he has problems and refuses to do anything about them. The company has a big heart and has decided to keep him even though he creates so much unbillable time I really have to bust my hump to make projects break even. I'm so sick of it but I do feel some sorrow for him. Wish my boss would force hiim to get it looked at.

Rotor, this is a different deal. This guy's work has always, always been top-notch.
He is/was the the go-to guy for us on large, complex systems. Couple that with his former Marine background and you've got a damn good hand....

So you have a workplace that ignores possibly life-threatening symptoms and they have a big heart? They need to step up and get him an assessment. F'king up can be anything from sleep apnea to Alzheimers. His boss is possibly contributing to his demise...

They know somewhat what is wrong with him. They have counseled him multiple times on the matter. They keep him employed so he can afford his meds when he decides to take them. It really is a difficult subject for me to comment on since I'm out of the loop on it for the most part.
His wife has major problems also and he is raising his grandkids which makes it even more complicated.
I don't know that he can even be helped.:sadangel:

When I see the "What is management good for?" threads, this is what I think of. If you are a good manager, you deal with these kind of issues proactively. Counseling sounds like proscriptive action. Has anybody offered him help to deal with his issues?
