Looks like my loved one will get either that, or an implanted defibrilator which also functions as a pacemaker. Do you have any noticeable symptoms from having one?

My wife is on her third pacemaker (not defibrilator type). Been 15 years now, and no negative side effects. The only negative was she could not have an MRI, but that problem has been solved with the new model she got last year. The leads (wires) are still the original ones.

None. They do tell you to stay away from two-stroke engines because because of the electrical field put out by a magneto. Also no magnets close to the pacemaker. Usually a technician from the company who makes the pacemaker will provide all the information about these things both in writing and in a consultation either just before or after the procedure.

nope.

i hold my cell phone on my right side (pacemaker is on the left), i avoid strong electro-magnetic fields, like running engines (alternator), no welding, and metal detectors (haven't flown in ages, but did bypass one at the courthouse when called for jury duty).

all explained when you get one.

mine has 3.5 years left. works everyday.

The defibrillator option saved my father's life Monday. He had an event and a full 16 seconds of defib before normal sinus rhythm was restored. So far it looks like he dodged yet another bullet.

Not me. If I was typing with my LEFT hand, then I would be the loved one. But maybe I have said too much already.
