I loved his sarcasm and wit in Galaxy Quest. Yeah, a blatant Star Trek ripoff, but still fun.

Snape, Gruber... excellent roles. And his delivery is pure genius. Love em or hate em, he was a true talent and will be missed.

Also a masterful job of bad guy on Quigley Down Under!

I was always grateful for his appearance in any of his films!
RIP Alan... :sadangel::sadangel:

Galaxy Quest is one of my favorites. A very clever premise, and IMHO, it's really more of a parody than a blatant ripoff.

His work in Dogma and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was also top notch.

Galaxy Quest is satire. Spaceballs is parody.

Rickman was one of the greatest storytellers ever seen.

He set the bar for 80's action villains, and I think I'm right in saying that Hans Gruber was never surpassed, and most action villains that came after were pale imitations.

His Sherrif Of Nottingham owns Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, so much so it almost seems unfair to put Kevin Costner in such a position.

But for me, the great film performance of Alan Rickman was that of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. The best character of the series, Snape is tragic, in the Shakespearean definition of the word and Rickman makes him breathe and live so that when he dies, it is gut-wrenching.

Truly beautiful to watch. Gone far too soon.

Thanks for your post. Rickman's Snape character single-handedly took the Harry Potter Movies beyond the realm of kid's fantasy stories.
