CALVERT CITY, Ky. - A mother charged with endangering her children says she was wandering along a western Kentucky interstate with them after snorting bath salts.

Kentucky State Police say they found a 2-year-old boy with a head injury lying on the inside edge of I-24 in Marshall County and his mother carrying a 5-year-old child in the median.

Police say 29-year-old Cynthia Palmer told officers she had been snorting bath salts and began to hallucinate while driving from the Tennessee side of Fort Campbell on Monday night. Police say she stopped and attempted to carry both children across the roadway, but dropped the younger child and left him.

The 2-year-old was taken to a hospital. The older child was taken into custody by Tennessee Social Services.

Palmer is charged with assault, wanton endangerment and public intoxication. Court records do not list an attorney for her.

Oh well then, that should excuse it all ma'am. We're sorry for the trouble. You are free to go and abuse your kids even more. Just put the salt down next time and shet....

That bath salt shit was on the news here a few weeks back. God know how many idiots ran out and bought some right after the news just to try it out and get high that never would have known about it.

BENTON, KY - A judge in Benton has assigned a public defender to represent a woman charged after her injured 2-year-old was found lying on Interstate 24.

A judge entered a not guilty plea on Cynthia Palmer's behalf on Wednesday to charges including child endangerment, according to The Paducah Sun.

Police found the 29-year-old Palmer wandering in the median with an older child Monday night. A deputy spotted the injured 2-year-old and moved the child shortly before a truck came by.

Palmer told police she was hallucinating because she snorted bath salts while driving from her home on the Tennessee side of Fort Campbell.

Officials say some synthetic drugs containing a stimulant are marketed as "bath salts" and mimic the effects of cocaine, ecstasy and LSD.

Tennessee child welfare officials have taken custody of the children, though the younger one remains hospitalized.

BENTON, KY - Kentucky State Police now think a toddler found on Interstate 24 with a serious head injury wasn't dropped by his mother, but might have been hit by her.

That was revealed in testimony during a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Benton for 29-year-old Cynthia Palmer of Clarksville, TN, after which her case was sent to a grand jury, according to The Paducah Sun.

Cynthia Palmer was found in the median of I-24 late on Feb. 28 with her older son, Caleb. A deputy found Austin in the passing lane and moved him to safety.

Austin - who is 2 years old - underwent surgery in Louisville for a head injury that exposed his brain. The boy is now out of the hospital.

Police believe Cynthia Palmer was hallucinating after snorting bath salts.
