Well, VA isn't for lovers anymore, it's for felons. Just a public service announcement here, but if you happen to run 80 mph on a highway that is posted 70 mph you are going to be charged with yes....FELONY reckless driving. It generates thousands upon thousands of dollars for the state coffers. Glad I'm never moving back there. Good old communistwealth of VA. Bunch of thieves. Yes, I know one would be breaking the law, but a damn felony, you gotta be kidding me....:issues:

Shit like that is a good encouragement to institute a hi speed chase. I know a song that covers that "catch me if you can"

Been that way forever. 20+ mph over, or 80+ absolute can be felony reckless.

While I also don't like it, I have to agree with ZipZap that it has been this way since I moved to the Communistwealth over 16 years ago.

Wow, I feel even more better about that ticket I got in Northern Nevada a few years ago.

The wife and I were headed from Clearfield, Utah to San Francisco to see her relatives. We were driving on I-80 and it's not much out there. So, I'm clicking along about 95...had been for a while. Not one person had passed me. I know, shocking, right? Anyway, I'd been in the left lane all the time. I noticed someone coming up behind me. So with no one around, I turned on my turn signal and proceeded to move to the right lane. One can still be courteous even if he's hauling ass, right?
So, I look back again and notice dude is doing the same thing, turn signal and getting over to the right lane. Then, I noticed a pretty blue strobe light in the place of the rear view mirror. Ok, I know the deal; pull over, wait, hands on the steering wheel, no movements to show hostility/reaching for a weapon.
He approaches and I continue to show no threat. We begin talking and in no time I had him laughing. He's just a fella doing a job, right? So in the course of the conversation, I asked where was he setting. He said he wasn't and that he met me. He further said when he clocks someone, normally they slow down when he gets 'em with the back/rear device. Oh no, not me since I kept right on going. He said he even turned around, caught up, and paced me at 92. My thoughts were ok, you're already giving me three. :D
So, he goes back to his car, does his magic, and comes back. He says he wrote me for nine over since the ticket would be much more for my real speed. He also said to slow it down since his friends were also patrolling and further up the road.
We parted with him smiling and doing his job and me knowing sometimes you gotta pay to play. I think I ended up paying around $200 for the ticket.

When driving to and from the Cabin, about a 2 hour trip from Casa Chinaski in the San Fernando Valley, I use the 210 Freeway which basically goes from the Newhall Pass area all the way to I-10 in the Redlands area, roughly 100 miles.

Anyway, the speed limit is 65, but I usually go about 80 or 85 (when it's moving), and people pass me like I'm standing still. :yesnod:

Up/down I 95 you best be doing 80 anyway, and sometimes get in the way doing THAT.....two exceptions.....Lumberton NC, and another trap just north of the NC border in Va.....a nothing town that is SO important.....

down here in Florida 80 seems to be a shifting point anymore.....

I just read the article and it seemed more recent. Reckless driving is one thing, but a felony is an entirely different matter. Most Virginians I'm sure remember the super speeder law for residents. As we all know, it has not one thing to do with safety, just lining the state's bank account. I've not lived there since my early 20's, but do go back to visit family. The VSP have always been the Nazi's of the highways. I-81 is among the worst. It is a speed trap from beginning to end in the state.:yesnod:

RICHMOND — Attorney General Mark R. Herring (D) announced Tuesday that Virginia will no longer recognize concealed carry handgun permits from 25 states that have reciprocity agreements with the commonwealth.

Virginia has been going down the crapper for years. I grew up in the mountains of Southwest VA, and it is an absolutely beautiful place to live. That said, the Richmond liberals have been doing a great job of ruining the place. It's a damn shame really. I still own property there, but am trying to sell it as I know that I'll never live there again.

They actually will put you in jail for a speeding ticket. How crazy is that? I think PeterK over at CF got one a few months ago.

And yet the "Utah Permit" is still recognized. It's all meaningless, as Virginia is one of few "open carry" states, but I would imagine that few actually open carry.

It's all about revenue. They can charge more in fines and fees.

They'll also burn you a new one for having any form of radar detector.

VA is amazing, speed limit is 75 MPH in places, but if you take it to five over the speed limit or 80MPH you could be cuffed and taken to jail as a reckless driver.

VA is getting ready to flip to the liberal east coast BS which wants total control of everyone's life to include gun ownership.

I've never seen 75 MPH posted Speed Limits in VA. Has this changed? I know MD just increased to 70 on some interstates. So did Delaware to 65 from 55, finally.

You are right, I was thinking places on I-85 were up to 75 but I could not find confirmation online to back that up.
