As Gun Ownership Hits Record Highs. Per-capita murders in the U.S. are at their lowest level since FBI records began, and they are trending downwards.

This dramatic drop in per-capita murders to the lowest point ever recorded since the FBI began tabulating this data 55 years ago is a wonderful thing, especially as it continues to drop as more Americans own more guns that ever.
Notice something from the graph: liberals had two of their biggest gun control Victories in 1968 (Gun Control Act) and in 1986 when they banned purchase and possession of any full auto firearm manufactured or imported after 1986. In neither case did the murder rate decline even within a couple of years.

Of course. Actually mass shootings aren't really any worse than 30 years ago. But the media coverage is much more intense and agenda-driven.
There are a lot of murders in the USA, it's a big country. Mass shootings only account for a tiny fraction actually.
I'd love to see this broken down by city, state race and economic status.

I love these Christmassy threads. :yesnod:

so one could conclude that either by having a gun directly available, or by being around someone who has a gun directly available, your chance of being shot goes down....therefore, i'll keep one handy. and yes, i know how to use it well. and it has good hollow point ammo that has passed all FBI barrier penetration tests.

Kahr CM9 with laser in the right pocket of my coat, 3 more magazines and a box of 25 in my left pocket; that's over 50 rounds on me, plus other pistols/shotguns stashed in other rooms of the house and work shop. 3 months of water and food in the house and over 3,000 rounds.

Batteries never fail until you really need them to work. I recommend self luminous or at least fiber optic sights on a defensive arm... and regular practice so you don't have to overthink things under stress.

Yep! As the cost of ammo lowers, I'm trying to move up to at least medium level.

Some cities have shootings on a daily basis. Liberal media won't cover it because it's not going to cause riots unless it's police involved.

Interesting how the anti-gunners like to cite "mass shootings" which include instances (about 33%) where nobody actually died, rather than mass murders.
