Looks awesome.

Is it vented or does it recirculate the air?

Vented through the bottom of the cabinet and runs along the basement ceiling to outside. The suction opens and closes the vent on the outside.

That looks like it would actually work without sucking the flame towards it. My first gas cook top had a downdraft that was situated where your center burner is. It would suck the gas in too, and would burn the edges of the stupid thing.

Then we just blocked the down draft off and put in a real range hood, which was no small feat considering we had a vaulted ceiling in the kitchen. Finally when we finished the entire kitchen remodel, we now have a 6-burner Thermadore gas cook top there.

We did all GE Profile except the vent hood. It's a 2 piece Thermador with the vent fan on the roof.

VatorMan, what's under the covers on the right side? Themadore is great, we have their double-ovens and microwave along with the cook top.

Ours is a five burner with the middle oversized burner being able to be swapped out in a second for the griddle.. The griddle is a must..:yesnod:

You see, we didn't think the griddle was the way to go. My dad has the exact cook top we have with a center griddle and I thought initially it was cool until he told me what a hassle it was to use compared to just using a cast iron griddle on the burners. I think if you had a big family it might be the way to go, and his is a few years old now so maybe they are better, but it took it quite awhile to heat up and then just worked OK and was a bitch to clean. Also our old cook top had a griddle unit that would swap in for two burners. I used it exactly one time in 11 years. It spent most of its life up in a cabinet.

I have three cast iron pans that don't have much in the way of sides on them and those are our "griddles". They are great to use outside on the grill too.

F**k. It takes ours a good 10 minutes to warm up. We do use the griddle quite a bit. Toasting bread, pancakes, massive quantities of bacon...etc.....The grill gets a lot of use.
