Been keeping a close eye on it already. Howling winds woke me up about 3am, and it's been 70* all night. It's going to be a doozie, but it looks like it's been downgraded a bit. (whew)

Last night around 3AM my wife and I were woken up by very strong winds. I kept my fingers crossed that it wasn't a tornado. Probably just a micro-burst (straight-line winds generated from a collapsed thunderhead.)
She was freaked out by it more than I was.

Kentuckiana got rock-shocked pretty tough this morning around 4:30 AM. A tornado destroyed a home in Eminence, Ky., leaving residents hospitalized.
Fortunately, we didn't have any property damage or personal injury at the Shipp household.
Early morning tornado destroys homes in Eminence; residents hospitalized

EMINENCE, KY - Monday's strong storms ripped through much of Kentuckiana, leaving behind several reports of damage. Perhaps one of the hardest hit areas was Eminence, Kentucky in Henry County.
The National Weather Service has spent much of Monday morning at the scene, and has confirmed that the destruction was caused by a tornado.
One of our viewers, Doug Kemp from Eminence, was the first to report the major damage to us and we want to thank you, Doug, for the information.
At least three homes have been destroyed, and a few others have been damaged off of Highway 1899 - also called Mulberry Road. It's in an area between Clear Creek and Spring Hill Road.
Two people have been hospitalized with very minor injuries, Kentucky State Police tell WAVE 3 News.
Emergency responders have been on the scene from Eminence, New Castle, Henry County, and Kentucky State Police, along with several other agencies.
In a live interview on WAVE 3 Sunrise, KSP Trooper Michael Webb told WAVE 3 meteorologist Kevin Harned that two homes were destroyed in the Spring Hill Estates area of Eminence. Webb said he had seen one of the homes hit by the storm.
"There is nothing left of the home," Webb told Harned.
There were three adults in each of the homes that were destroyed, but Webb said no one inside those homes was injured. However, he said two other people from Henry County were transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.
Two other homes in the Spring Hill was also damaged, according to Webb. He says an emergency shelter is open at the Eminence Baptist Church.
Numerous trees and power lines are down throughout the county, according to Webb. He said emergency crews are still surveying the area to determine where damage has occurred.
WAVE 3 reporter Matt McCutcheon, reporting live from near Eminence, says some roads in the Spring Hill area are closed and traffic is being re-routed in the Clear Creek- Spring Hill Road area.
Utility crews are on the scene, working to restore power to those in the area where the electric has been out due to power lines that were whipped and cut during the storm.
Insurance agents have also been making the scene.
Kentucky State Police say that a horse will have to be put down, after debris and tree limbs came charging at the horse during the storm, causing significant injures.
Some calves were also trapped inside a barn.
In one of the homes, two people were inside sleeping when they heard the storms and feared for the worse. They climbed under their bed and a short time later emerged to find their home in ruin.
Neighbors and other officials have been helping homeowners remove salvageable items, and they've spent much of the morning doing just that.
One homeowner next to the damage saw and heard nothing.
"After we heard the storm move away we came out and it was still pitch black and lighting flashed and my wife said that house is gone," said Eminence resident Carl Hardesty.
Hardesty, his wife, and mother-in-law got a wake-up call from a friend about 5:00 Monday morning, alerting them to the danger.
"We had a call about 500 from friends in Shelbyville. We were sleeping and so you get up and you don't have all your senses about you so we got up and we have no basement so we went into our little walk in closet here and all 3 of us were in there praying," Hardesty said.
Their prayers were answered, as not even a shingle was missing from their roof; a dramatic difference from the devastation Mother Nature left next door.

Sorry bro. Made it safe.
Thankfully I crossed the Virginia border on 77 north and got past the cliffs/high wind area BEFORE all hell broke loose. When I got near Virgina Tech/Blacksburg, visibility was non existent for about 20 miles and I had to go 50mph.
Fun fun fun.

That one started just south of me by about 20 miles.
Dubois County in Indiana had a tornado too. That's like an hour west/northwest of Louisville, KY.

Just checked radar, and the nasty front has cleared my State (MS), almost out of Alabama, too. It was a non-event in my city, but the temp is dropping fast.
How's everyone else holding up?
