I've worked hard to earn it. I set up and run the CNC lathes, two CNC horizontal mills, the vertical CNC mill plus the manual lathes, the Bridgeport mills, the drill grinders and if the weld shop backs up, I can TIG, MIG and arc weld. ( formerly certified in welding but they have expired )

I'm learning the new Gibbs programming software now.

It's all about adding more value than make; and you get rewarded accordingly. Congrats, you're doing it right.

I made sawdust today. And a wall cabinet.

I'm working on a batch of stainless steel parts to make medicine. They are round, just under 4' long and have 4617 3/8" holes in them. ( that's not a typo, four thousand six hundred seventeen holes  )

Pill molds?

I thought it was boring drilling shelf pin holes. 68 holes per cabinet. 9 cabinets so far.

612 so far.

It separates bloods cells somehow. :confused5: I'm not sure exactly how it works but I have a clear blueprint so I'm happy :D

Built 6 cabinets only to discover I had set the bit too shallow. Had to re-drill all of those again after fixing the bit. Sigh.

Must be some really small holes.

Are you able to count the cells?

No idea how this machine would work. Blood cells are very small.

Yes but they still need some room to walk around some, and a bunk for sleeping.

Seems like they would use the bunk for fukking.

Do you use GD&T usually or standard coordinate drawings?

Nice...I anticipate 2% max.

I'm about 20% under internal comparables and 30% under market...

That would be why I am actively job hunting...

If/when I find a new job I anticipate the company to counter with a 15% raise minimum...won't be enough. Sadly being willing to walk is the only way to get a salary adjustment around here...

if i got a raise, i'd celebrate! :yesnod:

(wait, aren't you retired?)

um, yeah.

(so how would you get a raise?)

precisely... :slap:

I have 23 years here and if funds weren't adjusted, I was going to get a new job. The "threaten leaving" doesn't work with me. If you weren't going to pay me my value before, why should I stay after I lined up a new job?

I had to look up GD&T and as it turns out, that's how the prints are drawn. :D

Concentricity , flatness , true position are just some of the features that can make my life fun.

I was curious because I've noticed that it seems to be about a 50/50 split of those who use only GD&T and those who have no idea what they're looking at if a drawing shows up with that type of dimensioning.

Don't get me started on "bonus" tolerances. :willy:

And don't get me started on bullshit tolerances :D

If the shaft you drew really needs a .0007 tolerance for a bearing , fine, I can do that. Don't give me a .003 tolerance in between bearing journals which is strictly clearance :ironchef:

I deal with quite a few parts with tolerances in the .0003 range...

:cert:

Not a problem if truly needed. Just don't throw in tight tolerances because you have the pencil or mouse to make the prints.

The rocket scientists here require us to do GDT on panels that mount wire ways and din rails that mount with slots. And they want a .002 profile tolerance for "D" holes for mounting connectors. No wonder I go home with a headache.
