Clearly, this place has low standards.:D

My pool store buddy is getting an honest 16 MPG with his 2011 F250 diesel.

I've gotta be the only knucklehead debating that with a CTS-V sedan.

Wow the V gets that good?? :D:D Must be driven by one of those people who don't have fun! My average is around 11 when playing hard, well I guess my average is around 11.

I meant that I can't decide between an F250 KR and a CTS-V.

I know; they are very similar.

My DD is a 2003 Focus with 197,000 miles. It still gives me 33 MPG. I like the 2010 Focus but its a 2.0 L engine.

Trucks have certainly improved over the recent years. I'm averaging 16 or so out of my 2010 GMC 2500 HD 4x4 (gas). It creeps towards 20 if I keep it at 70 on the highway and gets in the 15 range with a Corvette on a trailer behind it at "normal" towing speed.

I'm much more impressed by bigger vehicles getting up into the high 20s and 30s than I am with a car the size of a shoebox getting into the 40s.

The have different styles. Only one comes with a manual tranny. Check their website. If you use the "build your own", you'll be able to see all options. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5/GizmoCBK/Emoticons/smile1201.gif

I'm considering one for 2013, let the first batch clear all problems and recalls.

Gene, the new Focus is not smaller than your Escort.

Also, in purely engineering terms, a legit 7 mpg improvement is HUGE.

Go Blue.

T, you know I've been looking at Fiestas, and one thing bugs me. The actual window stickers only rate the cars at 37 mpg (manual) or 38 mpg (automatic). Not 40 mpg. I'm seeing an asterisk* in the color pages/brocures/ads saying "... up to 40 mpg*"

More marketing over-promotion going on?

You need to find one with the Super Fuel Savor option.

So, the Focus just savors the fuel, and doesn't sip it or gulp it? Wow, that is impressive. :yesnod:

Now that my wife's Fiesta is back in service, it's been awesome.

I loved my 2003 Focus SVT, but I want an AWD RS option for here in the states, that doesn't cost more than an STI. Probably won't happen though. :(

as far as I know and have read its doubtful to happen however... it would be a big surprise to me if they did bring the ST here to the US. A big reason why as it would remove sales from the Mustang.

I think it's bigger than a '99 Escort. It also has 25 more horsepower and gets better mileage. It is better in every single way.

Handling will also be very good for a FWD car. If it handles like the Fiesta, it will be fun to drive.

So the Super Fuel Saver option is $695, and gets you about 3 MPG better.

At 40 MPG, and gas at $3.50/gal, it would take you about 2700 gallons of gas before you'd break even, or nearly 106k miles. :skep:

My wife's uncle is an anti-captalist and he was gloating back about that time that all evil corporations were going to die.

I told him he should shut up and buy the stock in as large a chunks as he could afford because the physical plant and non-automotive areas Ford had was worth more than $2 a share.

Based on the window sticker, the "fuel saver" option consists of different tires, a spoiler, and cruise control. WTF? Well I guess it's better than adding magnets to the fuel line or something.

I think you can accomplish the same thing by just inflating your tires with a few extra PSI. And then when they prematurely wear out, you replace them with whatever tires are in the fuel saver package. In then end you'll come out ahead.

And cruise control isn't necessary.
