Her total time in orbit to date is 351 days, having orbited the planet 5,628 times since her first flight in 1984.

It IS cool.

I was 18 years old and working for NASA in 1985. I was in Discovery in the crew compartment less than 24 hours before launch... mission 51-I IIRC. It would have been July or August of that year. It's the only orbiter I've ever been in that was in the vertical position.

I was at the VIP / press viewing location at the launch. It was an incredible experience.

I usually tear up watching the launches...I've got goosebumps just thinking about the launch.
