The Beatles legend had a darker side which was revealed again on TV show It Was Alright In The 1960s
Fans have been left shocked by disturbing footage of John Lennon mocking disabled people.
The Beatles legend was an inspiration to many, but over the years his darker side has been revealed - and TV show It Was Alright In The 1960s has brought him back under fire.
In an old clip from a live performance with the Fab Four, Lennon is seen pulling faces and making exaggerated movements in an offensive manner.
The video resurfaced on the Channel 4 show this week, and it has prompted a disappointed reaction from viewers as they were reminded of the star's views.

Yeah, it's kinda in bad taste but WGAF really. It doesn't necessarily mean he has a dark side, it just means he was acting like an idiot.
Oh yeah. The Beatles sucked butt-spittle.

it's not a shock for people who are savvy enough to not become a fan of someone before checking them out completely.
Ask anyone from my era; we were fans of the Beatles... but not of John Lennon as a individual. This dickwad behavior does not surprise any of us.

I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon with pitchfork in hand to denounce a persons actions from 50-years ago because they were being non-PC! A lot of us did dumb shit like that back then before being politically correct was so politically correct.

No surprise. It's well known he physically and mentally abused his first wife and effectively abandoned the son he fathered with her. He was an asshole.
Also, a lot of the later Beatles material was written by McCartney and Harrison, he just got credit by default.

The Beatles were some pretty good and innovative musicians who benefitted by being the right thing in the right place at the right time. And being well managed and publicized. I enjoyed much of their music back then and today. They were no better or worse as human beings than any four random people you would select from society at the time.
Pretty much how I feel about all showbiz people.:yesnod:

:iagree: We didn't call John Lennon's behavior politically incorrect back then, we just called it being an asshole.

Hey, give Yoko credit. She baby-sat John and kept him off the streets and out of our lives for over five years.:leaving:
Why is something that was relatively commonplace 50 years ago considered "disturbing"?

It's the new way. Poor kids today have their entire lives on video so when they are 60 someone can pull something up from their naive days and say what a douche they are.

Of course he had a dark side, look who his wife was :ack:
I agree, the Beatles were nothing more than the worlds first boy band. Granted I do love some of their ballads but for the most part I never go out of my way to listen to anything they do.

:iagree:
I watched the video and I'm no more disturbed than usual.

So if this is so appalling and it happened 50 years ago, why aren't people all offended about this much more recent guy? Where's the outrage?

I didn't find the footage disturbing at all. However, I already knew John Lennon was a dick.

Actually those antics weren't any worse that what we all did as kids, at least the kids I knew and myself. We all made fun of the short bus kids, mind you he's a little older in that video than we all were when that was happening. Trouble is he's under the spotlight on stage with the world watching. :bilmem:

Absolutely. There were no limits among me and my friends. I didn't really become aware of any impact on others until I was in my late 20's or so.
Suddenly the world got all soft and sensitive too however.
I'll go ahead and apologize for seeing the humor in his antics.
It didn't stop being funny, it just started to be unacceptable. :leaving:
