Just cancelled them, who else here has to do battle with them every freaken year when it's time to renew service?:issues:
Then I got a survey in my e-mail.....told them why and they asked if they can call me to discuss further, said sure, will see what happens next week.

I dropped XM, after probably 7 years of service. I enjoyed the product, but back then, they would give you a $ 100 a year or $ 77 a year subscription, then automatically renew (and then bill you for) the following year at closer to $ 300/year. Then it would take several phone calls to try and negotiate a reasonable price again. I finally tired of the game and just let it go. I survived.

I hear ya,same thing here but I had forbid them to renew automatically. Last year I had paid $76.00 a year, this year I get an e-mail saying it would be $204.88 !!
After 3 people I could not get a year subscription and I think I just wanted to hear myself say......CANCEL !
If they make me an offer I will consider but to go through this every 6 months, forgetaboutit ! I'll survive to I'm sure....I'm going to tell them about the various forums I belong to also, maybe it will mean something that tons of people will be reading it.
I too like the service but not at this expense !

I dumped them too. Funny thing. They tried to auto-renew at a much higher rate and the credit card used had expired during the subscription so they couldn't do it. It was $50.00 for 6 months but the autorenew was $145.00 for the next 6 months....oh hell no.

I've actually had good luck renewing for less than $90 a year on both the TB and the SS. It actually went very smooth each time. Must be luck of the draw with the sales people.

I've never had it. I sometimes drive cars back from the auction for dealers and I drove one a few weeks ago that had it. It was a two hour drive, including some areas with little to no radio reception, so I really enjoyed it. I'm not in my car enough to pay for it, though. There are several local radio stations I am perfectly happy with.

In fairness, they do tell you up front that you agree to be automatically renewed at whatever the going rack rate is. It is up to you to call before you renew to negotiate the following year's price. Of course, for someone like me who doesn't do well with putting stuff like that on a calendar and actually remembering to do that, well, it usually ends up not so good.

That was me. I had it as an alarm on my calendar, but I snoozed it. :D

Just don't give them a credit card.
Have them bill you for the year, then pay with a check, that way they can't auto-renew (at any rate).

I always paid by check, however, your service continues at the rack (read:expensive ass) rate, and you don't even know it is happening until you get a bill a month or so into the new term. Whatever they want to charge you for that month plus, you just owe. Sure, you could just cancel and not pay that bill, but that doesn't mean you don't owe it, or that they can't send you to collections, or ding your credit.

It is also fairly difficult to actually cancel. I think I finally had to tell the 3rd or 4th person I talked to that the vehicle was sold before they quit trying to sell me a renewal package. Even though they finally offered to renew for the previous year's price, I had had enough.

They stop offering me renewal deals because I tell them what I want up front. I tell them if they can give me all access for $25.00 a year, I'll take it. They tell me they can't and that is where it stops.

I really like it, listen all the time, in the car and at work; and the cost isn't high enough to get my attention, that's how much I hate commercials, so...

Just went through this a couple weeks ago. Told them I wanted to cancel because it's "too damn high". As the girl started into the standard response, I interrupted her and said "$25 for six months...that's what it's going to take."

She put me on hold for about two minutes and I was in. Asked for the total with fees and such, sent the payment electronically, done...for another six months.

That's the deal they make everyone. I wanted all access for that price and they refused.

Well Duke from SiriusXm just called from client retention and I told him my story( no need to repeat everything here ) I also told him I was on a few car forums and that I was told by another member that they get everything for $25.00 for 6 months.....he said he can do that so next month I will renew.
I did say if you are giving 6 months for 25,why not 12 for 50? He would not give in there lol but I tried. Their # by the way is 866-635-7541 he said they will and can do better for anyone than the first line people......feel free to call,he even said ask for him when I do.

I mark my calendar when all three cars with it are due, I then call a few days before that date and make a good deal based on what others here have posted they are getting, never a problem in umpteen years. I always pay by invoice too. Free radio here in Ft Worth is about 90% talk/commercials and maybe 10% music.

Thank you.

I got it too. I called the number and talked to whomever answered. He asked what I was paying last year. I told him $90+tax. He said he could do $89. Then, I said I heard it was available for $25 at six months. He put me on mute and when he came back, he said he could do it.

So, $30 and change for 6 mos. Renewal at $95+tax afterwards. As usual, call and cancel if I don't want to renew at that price.

Nice deal.

when i got my new truck 2 years ago, sirius was free for like 60 days. think i tuned in 3 times. i just don't drive enough to make it worthwhile.

kept getting letters telling me about the great deals, and in the fine print was the auto renewal at the prevailing rate. pass.

was out yesterday, flipping stations, flipped onto an XM channel by mistake - i had service. must be some free promo currently.

Nope, one my dad got last year.

We do see them here now and then, they like to drink from the pond, (noticed about 30-40 baby goldfish today!), and that would be a 30 yard shot from the front door.

I got tired of the game of renewing with them, so I cancelled and told them to delete me out of their system. They actually did! I receive no mail/email anything from them anymore. Pandora is better and free.

yeah, but don't have pandora. When my son sold his car because he lives in the city, they have not stopped sending him letters in the mail begging him to come back with the 25 price or better ! Like everything else I guess ya gotta play the game but it does get old quick.

No, I just milk their occasional free week promos and say, "feck 'em." I don't like the sound quality. It's nowhere near CD-quality like they claim.

My proof is a Sade dvd. I can close my eyes and be at the concert since the quality is very good. When I change to XM, the sound quality is quite lower. Even so, the radio stations selection of music and wading through commercials gets old fast.

Same with me. I call every 6 months to cancel. I say continue my $25 for 6 month rate and I'll renew. Had always worked for 3 years.
