I've been looking at different gun vaults (single pistol purpose) and mostly bio.
Looking for something for the bedside. Wall mountable, table top etc are all fine.

Any opinions from owners?

Which should I consider?

Cabela's has some in stock you can check out. Call Army Navy on Grape St and see if they have anything in stock.

Make sure you read reviews before spending your money :yesnod:

Kids in the house or who visit regularly? Wife afeared of guns? Those are the only reasons I can think of to impede ready access to your option of last resort. 3:30AM awakened from deep sleep in the pitch dark is no time to have to feck with unlocking the piece, it should be readily available.

I thought about that gif/vid when I was posting this.
A really nice rig.

I'm sure there's some great safes out there. My big concern is one that is easily/quickly accessible.

I've been wanting to work more on mental conditioning, muscle memory etc as I think that is the larger part of preparing for a worst case scenario.

I've taken all the basic classes years ago from an S&W team who was great but I've been wanting to take some more advanced classes that teach beyond just handling a firearm. I've done that since I was 8 years old.

I hear ya. Wife is comfortable with them and has been to the range with me a few times.

I have a house full of kids ( 8 mos, 3 yrs, 12 yrs) and often have guests/neighbors and their kids over.

Choose carefully then and practice accessing it as much as you practice your trigger pull. Have the wife wake you and see how long it takes to unlimber it with zero notice. Be absolutely certain it is empty the first few times you try this... an AD is not the best way to finish a quick draw.

About 30.00 and it's legal for airline carry if you want to travel someplace and take your pistol.

I have two and use them when I travel by air or car.

I've been practicing grabbing it out of the drawer but haven't asked the wife to give me a late night surprise... well, not this sort anyway.

Given my past history that would be a bad idea. (can't get into details but it wasn't doing time)

And if you choose this option, insert the pistol so the muzzle faces away from you on opening.

I've got a Nano. It's a decent safe. But the dials can be a bit finicky and hard to turn at times.

True. Since he is not looking for speedy access why worry?

Wouldn't stop me from buying another one. I don't know of a better safe of the same size. But it is an annoyance.

I have several other models of Gun Vault safes. I like them all.

Keep most of my inventory in an upright safe, carry the Ruger LC9, have the Mossberg International 715T at bedside, and the S&W M&P 9c in a tray on my desk with a few papers covering. Paranoid?...Hell no.......confident.......you bet.
