View Full Version : Inappropriate use of air quotes, are you part of the problem?
There is a guy at work here that throws up "Air Quotes" like this; ":)" almost every time he uses a verb. Makes my neck sore just listening to him because he has to bob his head ":yesnod:" when making such air quotes. Even when I am talking to him on the phone I can hear him doing it because of the emphasis in his voice. Anyone know if there is a hotline or something I can send him to get him "help"? ":yesnod:"
in addition to that, when I am talking to another engineer in the office via IM we "" stuff just to annoy each other. It "works".
I think air quotes should only be used when A) Your audience is "in person" infront of you, not on the "phone" B) When you are actually "quoting" someone.
The "End"

Why yes, yes there is.
For example; Why don't you put Honey Boo-Boo to bed so we can 'eat' some Ritz 'crackers' and 'cottage cheese?'
You start doing it to him, but more emphasis on your part, maybe he'll get the picture...:D
