This morning, I showed up at the airport and looked at about 200 cars in the return area, sitting there because they hadn't been checked in yet. Car wash was empty... four cleanup guys standing around, hikers (drivers) standing around... because we can't move them and re-rent them until they've been checked in and contracts closed out. :banghead:

Up front, only one person at the rental counter... not three. SOB... 850 return day, 750 rentals booked, two major accounts showing up en masse for a political rally (news stations)... and we're short three key people. :cuss:
Sooo... the other manager on duty and I rolled up our sleeves. I was the check in person for three hours, he manned the counter until 3:00pm... helluva run considering the lines started at 8:00am.

Point being- in my younger days (ok, maybe my not-so younger days too), I partied like a rock star and STILL made it to work, Every single time, without fail. Now granted, there may have been a few times where I never made it to bed the night before... but I always show up. I don't think some of the younger generation get this. There are other people depending on you to show up.., grrrr.

** Edit one: I don't get paid more because I have to work twice as hard to make up for someone else's hangover. These slackers assume the responsible peeps will pick up the difference... and it pizzes me off.

Mrs. Bear got called in at 4:00am this morning, because one of her co workers called in "sick." WTH calls in sick @ 3:30 in the morning, when the shift starts @ 4:30?

Fire them. If you repeatedly call in sick without having to go to the doctor or are to hungover to come in get rid of them.

So is there a salary or minimum requirements or is this just baby boomer "I'm complaining but I should have retired but I didn't save anything" typical bullshit?

He may have a point, but if this a disposable job it's not.

One of us is missing the point. Job pays roughly $2500-$3500/mo, depending on production and bonuses. More importantly, it's an entry level position in a Fortune 500 Company- could well be a career opportunity for someone.

Ain't no upside in Management. Don't think there ever was.

:yesnod: I enjoy it most of the time- write my own schedule, no BS from upper mgt... Certainly not a career for me... but it could be for the right person.
