and they were interviewing a crew chief (can't remember who) about how their car had made such a quick pass. He said it was either "Divine intervention or precision guesswork"'

I wrote that one down for future use.:yesnod:

Engineers have some of the same phrases. When you hear one say "It preformed within expected parameters." What they really mean is "I'll be gawddammed, it really worked." :Jeff '79: :leaving:

I can identify with that...

In a previous life, I was an Air Trans guy for Uncle. I can tell you that I sometimes used a WAG to make things happen. My boss on one deployment was a Capt who complimented me with a big smile and thanks for a job well done for a particular out of normal occurrence. I looked at him and said, "That's pretty good for pulling something out of my ass and it actually worked". He chuckled, shook his head, and walked off. :D
