Go down to the bottom left of this page, you'll see a dropdown menu that says "Default"....Select Default2. That is what most others are seeing now.

Depending on the concensus, that will become the new default.

Also is it forced to show at the left edge? Here again about a 1/4 inch of the image (nose of the C7) goes beyound the main window edge on the left side.

The forum table is a plain rectangle, the image is a plain rectangle...I put them together in a way that appears less obvious.

After cropping, coloring, and sizing to match the forum, here is the image without the text:

And with the text. This is a custom font I chose specifically for this. Not too common, plain, and boring, yet not too "scripty". There's eleventy billion fonts out there, but admittedly, I only looked at a few hundred or so before deciding on this one.

There never was a barn, but you can change back to the default style very easily, which hasn't changed.
Though the point of me doing it this way was so (most) people wouldn't have to change anything to see the new image, I (mistakenly) added instructions for one person who was set to a custom style in his profile options....And now everyone is doing that to discover alternate styles that have been here for six years. :Jeff '79:

Yes, this is a GM promo piece. It can now be found on stock image and clipart sites with open usage restrictions, so I felt it would be safe (legal) to use in this fashion.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a Corvette-oriented forum that doesn't use a GM-designed logo, such as the crossed flag emblems. And I did look at every 'vette forum I could find in the process of doing this, just to see what others have done. I definitely wanted to keep a simple, clean look, in a world where everyone else is enamored with a busy and cluttered appearance. Gigantic header images, usually adorned with ad banners and social media buttons dumped all over seems to be the norm. Of the 20 or so forums I looked at, I felt 2 were somewhat attractive.

I like the font in and of itself - except for the capital T and little e's - they just look wonky.

Overall that font doesnt go with the other text font sizes and attributes on the rest of the page. (You shouldnt have more than 3 anyway and there are 6 different sizes and appearance changes of the standard text font in the first 1.5 inches already.)

Making a single continuous image the same width of the forum is also impossible, since the width of the forum is variable and changes with screen resolution. Making the forum a fixed width would definitely generate more complaints than this.

Every other forum out there contains pictures of actual cars, or uses one of the crossed-flag logos. I saw this as something a little different and while it may be a bit too artsy, felt it was something in between, and keeping with a simplistic appearance overall.

I'm open to ideas and suggestions or even submissions if anyone wants to create an image they think would look great up there . This was just an idea that floated into my head a few days ago. I putzed with it for a day, and was pleased with how it turned out. I showed it to the mods on Friday, and they all seemed to like it, so threw it out today for everyone to critique. But no worries if this isn't "the one".

The logo is used elsewhere too...the favicon image that appears on browser tab, in the gameroom, in the Tapatalk mobile app, and its also our iOS icon. As the forum isn't black, it's not very suitable for use in a header image though.

Anyways, I just reverted back the default back to the original style, so you can forget this experiment.

Da logo changed mang!!It was put up temporarily to gauge reaction. Had the response been primarily positive, it may have remained as the default appearance, but since it wasn't, we're back to the original.

If you prefer that version, you can continue to use it by selecting the "C7 Silhouette" style in the dropdown menu located at the bottom left of this, and most any, forum page.
