I moved Eryn into her apartment in Foggy Bottom DC, which is right across from GWU where she will attend Med School.
Man, It's really nice there. What a lucky kid.
You walk by one street and the Washington monument is at the end of it, you walk by another and The Lincoln Memorial is at the end of it. The Kennedy center is in view.
The one thing that did strike me however was the multitude of homeless and psychologically deficient people laying and hanging around there.
Oh well. The kid is happy and ready for her new adventure. :seasix:
It's Miller..... errr Bacardi time. :cert:
Just a thought. That arched bridge in Harrisburg was really cool...

I assume you are talking about the Rockville Bridge

I used to live less than 10 miles from there. Great small mouth bass fishing in the river near there

Ya, that's gotta be it. It is a beautiful part of the country. :yesnod:
I went by it on the way down and under it on the way back.
Check that. It ran parallel with the Capital Beltway, (I-83), so maybe it's not the Rockville Bridge?

Very , Jeff. You have to be proud of your daughter. Many dream of having a son/daughter on track to be a doctor.

Ya, I know you and Jeff are on route, around the Harrisburg area.
We're going down next Saturday for Eryn's white coat ceremony.
It's gonna be another hit & run though.
Liz and I want to spend a few days and stop at Gettysburg one of these trips down. That would be a a good time to stop and have a few pops and lunch or something. :seasix:

No that is not the Rockville Bridge. It is another old RR bridge. The Rockville Bridge is further north. If you take I81 across the river you can see it in the distance

Back again.... My girl has her white coat, stethoscope, and reflex hammer and is ready to rock it.
Talk about an emotional day, the White Coat Ceremony blew me away.
My cousins in Rockville were stellar and we had a great hot tub party with their friends and had dinner on the Potomac.

I couldn't have been more proud. It was a great feeling. :yesnod:
Major General Nadja West, who graduated from GW and is now the Joint Staff Surgeon, gave a great keynote speech. There were very few dry eyes in the audience when she was done.

She's one smart lady and really impressed the young med students and parents alike.
If you do talk to her personally, please tell her that from a parent of a GW med student..
She deserves kudos for, not only her accomplishments, but for the inspiring speech that she gave us.

What a total PAIN IN THE ASS it is to drive in DC too. Dayum! It's 100x's worse than NYC.

Yeah man. :yesnod: My in-laws are in Fairfax and there's no way around it. You're gonna get hosed at any time of day/night.

I'm just wondering how many tickets I'll be getting in the mail from all of those red light and speeding cameras that they have.
My cousin said that they'll start showing up in two weeks. :Jeff '79:

You know, strange enough, I haven't gotten any yet and I've seen the light flash as I went past on several occasions. Could have been the poor bastard next to me.
I've been meaning to get that spray glop that obscures your plate to the camera but not sure if it works as advertised.

:Jeff '79: Ya, I was flashed a few times. I guess that you have to be going 11mph over the posted speed limit . I found all of this out from my cousin in Rockville.
This, after I tore the place up with a rental van the previous week and had a driving day under my belt, prior to him telling me all of this, this past w/e.
Your story gives me hope, at least... :Jeff '79:
