In her 3rd week of volunteering her time, the owner has taken a kind fondness to G. She's been bringing her Miata (Skittles) into work when she can. One of the grossly nagging issues she's had with it since she built it, was the fact that the shifter was "inconsistent".
Today, her boss figured out that the rod from the clutch pedal to the master cylinder is adjustable. For the first time since she built it, her car is perfect. We have flushed that clutch so many times....
Geraghty Anne is on cloud 9 with this guy, and she continues to show up and volunteer her time. It's a match made in heaven, and she'll spend what's left of the summer helping him.
There are a few more things on her Miata that need to be addressed, and not only is he helping, but he's paying for the repairs.
I'm thinking this is a great case of quid pro quo, or karma. She continues to give and give, and it's coming back to her in spades. :yesnod:

I'm thinking "G" is absorbing so much the owner is amazed how the sponge is taking in and fully understanding what he's putting in front of her.
Sounds likes it's working well for both :seasix:

Good for G, and that she's using that turtle car....skittles?
Any pics of other cool patients in there for repairs? :lilred:

Gil, who is on the board of the local technical college, continues to be amazed by what she learns, absorbs, and retains. He's commented repeatedly that she's well beyond any of the candidates he's had.
What makes her stand apart from these people is the fact that she's there every single day, doesn't make a penny, and works from dawn until dusk, and understands, and applies, his instructions on the first try.
I still think Gil is shaking his head over the fact that the best intern he's ever had is female.
VB and I have know for years that G is breaking the gender mold in what she's trying to accomplish. This current deal continues to reinforce that it's not a fluke.

Miata (turtle car) = Skittles
I did post the pic of the 1969 Jag that she was wrenching on. Even though I'm a proud dad, I still have to work during the day. I don't get too many chances to just drop in and take pictures.
She and Gil just removed the engine and transmission from a BMW, and she did most of the wrenching on the engine on the engine stand. She's getting lots of different skills from lots of different adventures in this endeavor.

First off I think it's pretty cool that a girl shows so much love for Cars.
Secondly, it's neat to see that she is given the opportunities to learn more..
But the more I think about it... she seems to be earning her own opportunities as she goes. :seasix:
Hats off to her and you both Craig.

I can't believe that she didn't figure out the clutch rod adjustment herself.
That's so basic. :D
