Mount Wilson is a roughly 5700 foot peak in the San Gabriel Mountains of Los Angeles. There is an Astronomical Observatory at the peak, as well as many Television and Radio Antenna.

It is named after Benjamin Davis Wilson who was the second Mayor of Los Angeles.

He was also the first white person to discover the area now known as Big Bear in the San Bernardino Mountains after he and a posse chased a band of Gabrielino Indians into the area after they stole horses from the San Gabriel Mission.

Benjamin Davis Wilson owned a large ranch and most of the land that is now Pasadena & San Marino California.

AND...

Benjamin Davis wilson was General George S. Patton's Maternal Grandfather.
