Need the Low-Down on Underdeck Systems

We plan to have some type of underdecking installed on a deck above a walk-out. Thought is to be able to use it in inclement weather, as well as protect a spa.

Any experience in VBOT? Systems, materials, self-installs?

This is a topic I'm considering at the moment as well. I have seen anything from home made tin roofing installs with a regular gutter and down spout, all the way to a custom job from a professional company. I'm leaning towards the tin route as that will tie in my current "decor" that my house has. Lots of good info online...you will have to make some decisions about what will work for your application.
