Got over it literally seconds after it happened. It was so fresh, there wasn't even a log on it with the CHP.
Motorcyclist ran over by a Greyhound Bus. We got low enough to see the gruesome details...And with Binoculars, it was even worse.
That might have been the worse thing I've ever seen on the job. :(
That one rattled me for sure. Be Careful!

Sometimes you see things you wish you had not seen..
It is hard to erase things like this from your memory. :(
An accident scene I saw one time years ago has never been erased from my mind, and try not to ever think about it.

I can still see the young lady who died just inches away from me from mass stab wounds, including a slit throat. And that was in 1977. The look in her eyes as she passed, knowing she was dying, and just imploring me to watch over her.
Passed a biker laying on the freeway yesterday afternoon, no cops on scene; heart sank when I first saw it but there were two ladies in scrubs talking to him and he was gesturing with his hands so I think he was okay; he was head to toe in heavy riding gear, probably saved him from something worse. Goldwing pulling a trailer on its side about fifty feet further down the road.

I remember driving home from work once, 20 years ago...two 19 year olds in a Golf tried to take a twisty road at 100+. Hit a phone poll, wrapped around it...and never reached 20 years old. Glad I didn't see it happen, cops already had sheets over them in the car, but you could tell what you were seeing. yuck.

I remember you talking about this before.
That had to be a really tough one to witness. :sadangel:

As far back as the 60s, I was one of the first on the scene at a number of gruesome car and motorcycle accidents.
Without going into detail, let me tell you when I bought my first car, a '57 Ford, it did not have seat belts. On my way home from buying it, I stopped at an auto parts store and bought some. As soon as I got home I installed them before I drove the car again.
I have also never ridden a motorcycle on the street in my life. All my friends did. About three of them are dead, the rest limp and have scars.:yesnod:
That had to hurt to see :sadangel:
I just got home from a day at the Laconia Bike Week rally. No problems here, but there are always fatalities associated with the rally every year. Too sad.

I stopped riding bikes in the 80's the first time I moved to Virginia due to the crazy ass drivers here. Moved here second time 2001, still crazy drivers and many of my friends while here were involved in accidents. Moved to Colorado last in 2013 and they were bike friendly so I started riding again (Harley Breakout). Moved back to Virginia last year due to the crazy drivers.
Saw biker killed accident on highway yesterday, wondering if I should be riding here or not.
Out for a ride today, some dumb ass pulled out in front of a pickup, he swerved towards me to avoid the car. Lucky for me I saw it coming and pulled to the right to give the pickup room.

Worse I have seen, while in Iraq Americas finest being flown to the site for emergency medical treatment, no doubt many did not make it. :sadangel:
Personally I was involved in an accident, resulted in losing my left leg, kinda gross, no pictures. :chainsaw:
I have a tremendous amount of respect for the EMT, LEO, Nurses, Medical personnel that have to put up with the horrific things they see often. My hat is off to them all, I personally do not think I could cope with the trauma they see.

About 3-4 bicyclist got hit hard this a.m here. Our local roads allow no extra room to pass safely. I really think they should ride them in a park or area that has a bike lane. This was on a road with the speed limit at 55mph.

No thanks, I do not think I could deal with the gruesome events you must have dealt with and saw first hand. Thank you for what you have done.
After my accident, in the ER a nurse was crying after dealing with me, she checked on me the next day after I was stabilized but I was thinking she was in the wrong career field.
Many jobs are under appreciated, military and many medial/emergency related jobs are ignored unless they are needed.
Hopefully I will never need to dial 911, but reality is at some point I most likely will have to and will appreciate whomever arrives to render help.
