I have an older JVC rear projection TV model#HD-61Z456 tht was made in 2006.

It has one HDMI input. Yes, I know I need to go ballah style and buy a new TV but this worked well until now. Everything I plugged into the HDMI port works except my PS3. I've use the same cables and plugged it into other TVs/monitors to find out it works.

I called JVC customer support today and they couldn't help. I haven't tried using component cables to see if they work, yet, becuase I want to go with HDMI cables for simplicity and keeping the cables behind it all bundled up neatly.

WTF, over? are the pins inside the HDMI port for the PS3 incompatible with this TV or what? Anybody have any ideas how to fix this that don't involve explosives or shooting it?

It might be that you have a 1080i tv and the PS3 is putting out a 1080p signal. Plug the PS3 into a moniter you can see and then go into the settings and set it to 480p. Then plug it into the TV. If you now see a picture, try to go to 720i and then 1080i and see if you get a picture.

If you don't see a picture at 480p then you are fecked.

PS3 is set up to auto configure the output. I've already tried hooking up to toehr TVs/Screens and changing setting with no luck, either :( I guess I'll try the component cables if all else fails since I'm too cheap and not ballah enough to buy another TV or PS3.

If RR can start a bank so he can be g for Game Room bucks, maybe I should start one to beg for real bucks so I can get my beautiful and loving wife (no pics) a better TV to use with the PS3 we have.

You have to turn the tv on for it to work

 You have an amazing grasp of the obvious :toetap:

I guess i have to turn the PS3 on, too, after I plug the power cord into a good socket on the wall, too, right? :D

F40, everything else seems to be fine if I'm guessing correctly as to what you are talking about.

Did the component cables work?

I need to go buy some probably tomorrow. It's not a life or death situation so I'll see how it works out later on (and I can't find the box the unit came with so I don't know if the cables are in there with it :banghead: ).

It should have come with a basic set of cables to hook up to a non-HD television (red, white, yellow). If you have a PS2, the cable is exactly the same.

I got rid of the PS2 way back when with my Commodore 64

It didn't work on a couple of different sets even after going into the settings to make this the primary out put. I guess this is God's way of telling me to get a better TV for the living room ( I hope). :D

I got some advice to hold the power button down on the PS3 and wait for it to beep a couple of times. I had the HDMI cable hooked up the entire time and after powering it off and repeating the process, it decided to work on the 4th try. All is right with the world. Maybe I should go ahead and buy a lottery ticket tonight while my luck is good....

Thanks for the tips, all.
