Scary to think about buying a classic car without a clear title these days.

No way those are the original seats. Did they even have a cloth seat option then? Is it a number's-matching LT1 car? Or is that hood scoop just an add-on? :confused5:

And yeah, ol' girl gotta' nice set of boobies on her. :D

Looks like a serious 70s "custom" interior, all it is missing is a mural on the side :D. Lady looks pretty good for 62

He is out the money. There was a midyear on display at the NCM, a few yrs. ago, with a similar story. Stolen in the '70s. No insurance or payout to the owner, but a report was made on it. Fast forward to recent years. Car had a full frame off restoration. Also, the initial purchase price for it. New owner applied for a title and the VIN was checked. It was returned to the original owner in fully restored condition. New owner was out all that money.

I applied for a tag for my 1972 Honda motorcycle a few months back. They wouldn't give me one until a LEO ran a VIN check on it and filled out a specific signed form. He even showed up in a police truck to confiscate it had it been hot.

She must have been extra hot at 19 driving that rig around town.:boobies:

Not original seat covers, they came with a sort of expanded vinyl or leather.
Just shows you that you should really pay attention to the history of the vehicle and check all the "hot" lists. Problem is that one state doesn't talk to all the other states or provinces either. We need an international hot list data center. All we can do now is check the various registries and police data banks.
Some sucker lost all his investment. They should trace it back to the thief and throw his ass in jail. It's possible I'll bet. :yesnod:

When ever I bought any used car, I ask for the title, #s match, case closed, fault of the .gov for issuing faulty paperwork.....who presenting for the title, has to show the previous title that damn simple.....typical .gov not caring or even worse.....:issues:

:iagree: Cool of them to do that.

They really didn't need to:

Dietrich had insured the Vette with Allstate, which paid the theft claim on it back in 1972.

Allstate paid the claim, so it's Allstate's car, right? I'm not really sure how that works, having been lucky enough not to have had to deal with that situation.

Regardless, nice move on Allstate's part to reunite the car and the original owner.

Saw a clip on the news the other night where an Allstate spokesman said "It was the right thing to do". :iagree:

We've had Allstate products for more than a decade now and have never had a problem with them. I gave my agent a glowing review on a survey Monday. He was so happy, he called me on my phone to personally thank me. I'm guessing they get some sort of corporate bonus for high praise from customers.
