BlackBerry PlayBook Will Go 4G
Research in Motion's new BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will become available in 4G versions for Verizon and T-Mobile later this year, the company announced at the Mobile World Congress Monday.

The tablet, which will arrive in Wi-Fi-only form in the coming months, was already scheduled to launch a 4G version on Sprint's WiMax network, but now will also launch on Verizon's LTE and T-Mobile's HSPA networks. The 4G tablets are expected to arrive in the second half of 2011.

“We are now building on the BlackBerry PlayBook's many advantages with support for additional 4G networks that will allow enhanced business opportunities for carriers and developers and unparalleled mobile experiences for users,” co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said in a statement to the media.

Taiwan's HTC Unveils Facebook Phones, Tablet
Taiwanese phone maker HTC Corp. Tuesday unveiled a new set of smartphones targeting Facebook users, as the group looks to cash in on the rising popularity of social networking.

The two new smartphones, the ChaCha and the Salsa, have a dedicated Facebook button providing easy access to the social networking site. Users will be able to directly upload photos or web links from the phone to the social network

"HTC brings social networking to phones in a new way," HTC Chief Executive Peter Chou said at a press conference at the Mobile World Congress.

The Hsinchu-based company also announced its first tablet device -- a portable personal computer with a touchscreen -- and three other new smartphones, all running on Google Inc.'s Android operating system, as the group aims to grab a bigger share of the fast-growing market.

"2010 was an amazing year for HTC and smartphone users," Chou said. The group sold 25 million handsets in 2010, more than double the number in 2009, he added.

The company said in January it expects first-quarter revenue and shipments to rise sharply from a year ago, boosted by new product offers and consumers increasingly switching to smartphones.

Once again, I'm here for the rockin' pics.

So, whatever happened to MySpace? Will FB go that way, too?

Myspace has been on a slow death ever since News Corp. bought it for a bazillion in 2005. There were never that many advertisers... and I believe there are next-to-none currently.

From what I've read....Myspace was still being used for it's music; but that's not what is was anymore either. Aplple introduced that "Ping" thingy; which makes it easy for new bands to setup shop and sell individual tracks directly to the end user.

Yeah. For email-primary-type users, it's still pretty much the best there is.

I have a Tour for work, which, since I got it, has radically changed how I work.

Sad that I am now in touch with the Global Economy pretty much 24 hours a day now, though...
